Friend with auto tranny problem 88

I need you guys to help me to help out my friend, he has a 1988 Max auto and his tranny keeps blowing seals, what he wanted me to ask you guys is if you know why this problem keeps occuring and if so, what does he need to do to fix it?

Also he was considering getting a used one from the same model car, if any of you have one or know where to get a good one in decent condition can you please reply back?

Thanks in advance.

hmmm, first thing comes to mind is, is he checking the level? To the sound of it he could be overfilling his tranny and the pressure is causing the seal's to blow. Now which seals is he blowing? The differential seals? Or seals within the tranny? To the sound of it, he may want to consider putting in a used tranny, doing a 5-speed swap, or possibly getting another car for that matter (like a 4th or 5th gen ). Does he have any shifting issues, or slipping?

As far as I know it is an inner seal of some sort, he is very mechanically inclined (I guess he just can't figure out the Nissan tranny) and can fix or diagnose just about any problem with any car.

Anyone here happen to have a extra 88 tranny laying around for sale?
