fast idle control

on my fourth gen it is called a Idle Air Contoller...on the second gen its called a fast idle control (something like that). My question is can you clean that? I am having a little trouble with my idle, although cleaning the throttle body did help out with the over all smoothness of my car. In the Haynes manual it says you can only check the volts on it....I am just wondering if I can take it off and clean it? Anyone with experience in this?

ok I read all of that and printed it out....are you saying that the 2,1 code is saying the air regulator is screwed up?

oops...ok I answered the wrong post....but you are saying that a screwed up air regulator will screw your idle up?

very much so...the air regulator operates like a choke for a carb...when it's not functioning properly, it basically creates an intake leak...which will lead to a poor idle...
