Newbie and a water pump question!

Hello, my name is Wes... I came over here from NICO, and I went to the Indy NICO meet last October, if anyone was there from here... I own a 1994 infiniti Q45 and I am quite adept at nissan vehicles.... I just finished a huge job on my Q over the holidays.....

Anyway, I have been given the opportunity to get an 86 nissan maxima and all it needs is a water pump... I would be using this as a winter beater (sorry for all the maxima lovers.. ) and I just wanna get this on the road..... I can pick up this car for $200 or so, because it needs a waterpump.... I have seen pumps at advance for like $30 and I assume its an easy DIY, just remove belt, remove pump and replace...

Anything I should know about this job?? Also, what else should I know about this car??? Anything special, I think they use timing belts but im not sure.... I just want this thing to run for a few months so I dont need to use my Q....

Thanks in advance!

Well, if I was in there, I would go ahead and do a timing belt as well. It's quite a bit of work because of the location, but it's your call.

Well, if your gonna do it, I suggest you get a chiltons/haynes/FSM. It has instructions on how to do it. And besure you take your time.
