running hot

my 87 SE has been running hotter than usual the past few days....its right around 3/4s of the way up....the funny thing is I can get my freakin hood open to see if I am leaking coolant or something....I pull the release and it does not pop the hood....It made me mad this morning on the way to work when it was freezing out, but I guess its pretty laughable....any one know off the top of there head how to fix the hood release? Im at work and dont have a manual in front of me...I would like to try to fix it when I take a break at my second job tonight. thanks.

My hood is the same way I have to pull the release and tap on the corner of the hood by the windshield and it will come up I would say it has a bad spring in it somewhere but I am not that worried about mine.

Mine used to do that too, till I replaced the hood bumpers at the front coners.

Now the hood pops up like it's supposed to.

I'm curious as to what you find out with your running hot issue, mine started
doing the same thing a while back.

On my hood, I pull the release, then I have to pull the hood up at the front, then release the safety lever. You can try that and see if it helps. As for the car running warm, as long as it doesn't past the inner mark on the H side, you should be fine. But it's a good idea to check it out anyway.

ok...I need to replace those because my hood sits crooked...so that probably my problem....where can you pick a few of those up? I looked for them at advanced and they do not have them.

and about pulling the hood up from the front that is the problem...I cant do it...I have to get someone to pull it up while I am holding the hood release lever...let me know where to get the bumpers/stoppers. Thanks

I got mine direct from the dealer... forget what I paid for them, but it wasn't much.
