R31 Skyline - looks just like a Maxima!

I just came across this site which you might find interesting. Skyline's are all RWD, but the body sure does look like our Maxima's! Especially the glass and the doors, they look to be identical to the Maxima's. It would be so cool if someone made a bodykit to mimic the Skyline's nose and tail.

Linkage:

Browse around, there are lot's of pics of cool 4 door Skyline's in there.

Buy a M30 that Infiniti imported to the USA. 2-door, rwd, VG30 powered. Auto only though

yeah at a glance you would think that it is a maxima would be cool for a body kit.the only major diffrence i seen is the body rolls a little more from the side rear quarter to the deck lid.

The only thing I don't like about the M30, the interior is too boxy...or at least the dash. Even the 2nd gen dash has more appeal that that. But other than that, the RWD combo with the 2nd gen body cues. They do look closer to the R31's than the maxima.

On those pictures of the skyline, what year are they? and for the M30's is there a particular year to look for? Ive never seen this M30 and Im going to try to find a picuture. What are the chances certain parts from these vehicles would fit our Maximas??? thanks

I believe the M30 was made from 89-92 or something like that. You can find some up on cardomain IIRC. There probably parts that will indeed fit on the maxima. I know I could probably use the taillights from the M30, which look a little nicer.

Those Skylines have an inline six though! Very cool. Looks like the valve cover is simular to the KA24E; 3-valves per cylinder?

anyway, I love the dual throttle intake... although it necks right down to a single intake tube of the same size so I wonder if it does anything except give a jerky (ultrasensative) throttle repsonse.

Honestly, I think the 2nd Gen body looks better than those Skylines.

BTW on that site is says the M30 comes with VG30DET. That means its a direct swap from the Z? Hmm interesting idea dont you think?

Yup, you are right. Both share the same base motor, VG30DE, just the turbo application is different (the single turbo on the M30 opposed to the twin turbo on the Z). It's the same with the maxima, that shares the VG30E with the Z31 Z. The VG30ET is almost a direct drop on the 2nd gen.
