Need advice on vacuum lines and seat

I'm not really a DIYer but i wanna change some of my vacuum lines. It seems like an easy little "project" and it can't really hurt. I was looking around under the hood and saw some lines labelled "3H7507." There was also one labelled "3H7501" Are these the vacuum lines? How many are there?
This is probably a stupid question, but what exactly do vacuum lines do?

Also, i'm pretty tall ( 6'3") and i'm kinda crammed behind the wheel, even with the seat all the way back. I'm trying to think of a way to move the seat back even more. An inch or two is all i need. Any ideas?

Thanks.

your vacuum lines will be black, about 3/8" in diameter. it's a good idea to replace them, especially if they are starting to crack and deteriorate, as this can cause numerous performance problems. check the ends of each one, because this is where they generally crack. I had to replace all mine over the summer because one that was out of reach and out of sight had cracked and was causing me to idle at about 1500 (instead of the regular 750) RPMs. Replace them exactly how you'd replace spark plug wires..... one at a time, slowly. they're a pretty standard size, so take a sample with you when you go to the auto parts store. most likely, they'll have it. they are essential for proper operation and good performance though, so it's kinda important that they're fully intact.

as for your seat, I dunno what to say. I stand exactly 6' 0" and I had problems in my maxima, only because some sort of clothing got tangled in the screw mechanism for the power seat and was causing it not to operate. once I pulled the entire seat out and fixed the problem, I was all set. I don't really think it's possible to move the rails back any.
