My car's starting to make me mad!

I think that it's time to take my car into the dealer...

The hot start problem is getting worse... it won't start
when the engine is warm unless I hold down the foot feed
all the way to the floor.

I did the tune up thing over the weekend - plugs, cap, rotor,
wires (Accel 8.5mm Spiral Core, universal fit), & set timing.

Car has quite a bit more power than before (duh!), but still
has the hot start issue (hoping a tune up would help, but no
luck what-so-ever).

When I go to start the car and it doesn't catch the first
couple of cranks, I have to hold the foot feed all teh way
to the floor of the engine will flood with fuel.

The fuel pressure reg and O2 sensor only have about 8K
miles on them.

The coil has also been replaced (not the power transistor tho)

The engine also surges or hunts for a couple of seconds
after the engine gets started.

And of course, I've checked the codes and all I get is 44.

With 6-8 stops a day, the hot start issue gets REAL old.

I might try unplugging the fuel pressure reg cut off solenoid
and run straight vacuum to the regulator and see if that helps.

OOOOO OOOOO
I KNOW THIS ONE!!!
Its either the MAF sensor, but more likely its a bad ECU. I bet its the ECU. That's exactly what my car did when the ecu died.

lol, drjmaxx88...almost looked like a giddy school girl with the answer! Either way, as everyone has pointed out....definately going super rich at startup. Might wanna test the MAF and CHTS just to rule them out before replacing the ECU.

Did your car do this on hot starts only? Cold starts were just fine?

I was thinking along the lines of the MAF since I can get it started
by holding the foot feed all the way to the floor. Kinda like starting
a flooded carbed engine

I have an extra MAF I'm planning on making a quick "test part" by adding
a section of hose. Then when the car acts up, I can install the "test part"
by just puting it on the TB and connect the wire harness to the MAF and
see what happens.

I don't think that ECU could be the cause because it seems to be a thermal
problem, but ya just never know!

Thanks!
