who has the talking lady ?

Our family had a second generation I believe , back in 87-88 i think. anyways i thought the talking lady was cool.. anyone have the talking lady and do you have videos, this would be great.

i hope someone has a few videos, it would be very entertaining to her what she has to say again after all this time.

Sorry, I dont think anyone has it anymore. Especially if we've installed aftermarket speakers in the front. I think Sarin may have it. I always get asked that question when Im washing my car at the car wash.

My dad had an 83, when I was 5- I thought he was god. When he pulled up for the first time in it, I was like- daddy- who's car is this? he had gone from a 73 buick century a BOAT. I guess this is when I fell in love with the maxima. I remember saying to my father as a young kid- Dad, when i get my license- i can have the max right? Sure son- tottaly not edn realizing that the thing wouldbe history before i would een learn to drive. lol And yes it had the lady. it would go- BING- the key is in the igition......BING- the is in the ignition.........BING.....the key is the ignition...BING......Your wife is sleeping with your cousin....BING

I've got it still, even with aftermarket speakers all around, although I think it only comes from the front driver's side. (I used stock wiring for the fronts, did the lady ever talk from the rears or the front passenger at all?)

Phrases I've heard:

Key is in ignition
Lights are on
*Insert Specific Door* is open
Fuel low (Not sure on this, I rarely let the tank bottom out and only heard it once)

BTW I've got the 84' model. Maybe I can rig up a wav file later.

The lady should only come from the driver's front. I can try hooking mine back up to get some clips if you like Caesar. I gotta say she amazes a lot of people when she talks, but when I'm working on the car with the key in the ignition and the door open, she just as bad as a nagging wife!

Mine still works, and if you'd really like a recording, I can do that for ya. I wired the "key is in the ignition" to "chime" like the 280ZX (all the circuitry is still there), because that one was wicked annoying.

I didnt realize the second gens also had the talking lady. Does anybody know if it was a mini record player like the ones in the first gens?

Maxine !!!!

I've heard her name is Maxine, and she has a very nice voice, unless it is real cold out side, when she sounds warped (you know when you play and audio clip on the wrong speed slow)

Key is in the ignition
Lights are on
Right door is open
Left door is open
Fuel level is low
Parking brake in on

And yes, it only played on the drivers side speaker.

With how old that technology is, I really doubt you can alter it really. Be kinda interesting though.

Take one apart... they are in fact miniature record players. You'd have to cut your own record to do new sounds... it would be easier to make your own digital audio circuit.

i hav the ladie. i whanted to put an after market sound sistem but i didnt whant to take her off. i called around to se if they had a wiering harness kit but i cudent find 1. so i thought it threw and mad my own (i didnt cut the stock plug). and i was thinking too if the b.c.m. (body control moduel) bloked the sound from the radio so the ladie can talk with transistor or relays. so i opend it and it was relays so i just used stock wiering. and my ladie works all i can say she kicks ***

speking french? thats weard shes proberbly mest up

I can grab some audio of her on tuesday if anyone wants. My left speaker is a little on the blown side, so she sounds like she has a cold, but nonetheless I can still put up the clips.

English speaking Maxima's have this vocabulary:

Key is in the ignition
Lights are on
Left door is open
Right door is open
Parking brake is on
Fuel level is low

All spoken with a slight Japanese accent! I've never heard the fuel level warning though, my low fuel warning light doesn't work either.

They weren't in spanish unfortunately. Mexico, Puerto Rico and some other countries got the regular bell sound.

I think the relays for her are somewhere up front at the corners. I had my 85 SE that talked to me for a month until I got into an accident and damaged a ton of the relays under the hood. I was 17 and wasn't the safest driver. We fixed/repaired all of them but the voice never came back. It was very sad.

I'll have to hook it back up, but I think I might get something. I don't think I can get them all though.

LOL you guys really want to hear it huh?
I'll try to get mine tomorrow.
It might be different from that 86' guy's... (mine's an 84')

----------------------
Left Door is open
Right Door is open
Parking Brake is on
Lights are on
Key is in ignition
----------------------

It'll just be some crude wav files, so don't expect too much.
And I'm not gonna wait for "Fuel low"

I wonder if I could go to a junkyard and get the box, and all related electrical to install this system into another car? Maybe my 71 Datsun truck?

I remember I was going to buy and 87 SE that had the talking lady...I thought it was awesome! Plus on that particular day she had quite a sexy tone to her voice....but then again maybe im just twisted like that? LOL

lol, I can see it now, you leave the key in the ignition, open the door, and making out with your car while the sexy voice chimes over and over and over..."Key is in the ignition".
