probally the most obvious TPS Q

ok well today as i scoured my car for corroded connections because i am trying to get the electrical going good and by doing this the car will run better, theres always room for improvement i think. i came to my TPS sensor (the only one corroded that i found other than the AAV i knew about) and its super bad, unsalvageable bad green corrosion on both ends. the car ran exactly the same with it plugged in than it did un plugged so i am going to replace the sensor with an exact replacement (thats like $15 my cost...discount YESS) and the connector it self

my question is with a working TPS will i get better gas milage?

i'm pretty sure i will but i want to double check...the next step is grounding and batteries (sound set up comming to a post next summer)

The TPS on our cars are not like most FI'ed cars...

TPS on most cars stands for Throttle Position Sensor where on
our cars it stands for Throttle Position Switch

The "Sensor" that on most of the newer cars, measures the voltage
from idle all the way up the scale. If you were to break one open,
you'd see a sort of spring that is laid out in a circular fashion with a
small rotating contact - this tells the computer where the throttle
is at any given moment

The "Switch" on our cars are nothing more than a contact switch -
On the manual tranny cars, there's only one contact (to let the
computer know that the car is at idle - on auto tranny cars, there's
two contacts, one for idle and one for WOT (Wide Open Throttle)

Technically, your car would run without the TPS connected, the
newer cars cannot.

i didnt see this earlier.

some times but stumbles when i am on the floor some times too, like today for instance. was messing arround with a co worker and i went to floor it and its all....bumble bumble bumble.....WOOSH.....gave him the lead though, either way i know it doesent work, its still unplugged, i'm gonna have to go to the salvage yard i think for a new connector.

A while ago I turned the TPS, so that when I barely tap on the gas the car was gone. The bad thing was that I didn't set the Idle timing right. So the car was idling right where the EGR valve opens up. So at idle the car would stumble and die and choke on its own exhaust. I think if I had set the timing a little bit this could have worked. Live and learn I guess. The EGR,Idle,TPS problem went away with me setting the timing. Readjusting the TPS back to normal. It ran way better after that.(till my trany blew!)
