best place to get an axle...?

as the title says... where do you guys go to get a replacement axles?

story: when i bought the my maxima 6 months ago it had a torn CV boot, which i never bothered replacing. so i kept driving like this putting on like 100 miles every day delivering pizza... untill today, when the CV joint grenaded as i was making a turn, and i guess (for some reason ) the car wont drive with just one good axle going to the tranny

i'll have some pictures of the carnage tomorrow

and i'll probably get a temporary replacement from that junkyard here in town until i can find a refurbished one or something... (since i doubt any of the cars at the junkyard have axles in much better shape that the one on my car)

so this is what happens when you dont replace your torn CV boots
-consider yourselves warned-

Well definate dangerous hazzard....probably if you're stuck in the middle of the freeway....but keep in mind...most nissan driveshafts don't break very easily.

well this is what is left of the CV joint

good news is that i went to NAPA today and got a rebuilt axle with a lifetime warranty for 49.99

hopefully it wont rain too much tomorrow (wtf is the deal with all this rain in Arizona ) so that the install won't be too soggy

Nice! Nothing like and imploded CV joint!

As for the rain.....someone decided to send all the moisture destined for the pacific northwest, and gave it to CA and AZ instead.

Just bought a driver's side outer last night for $78.99 plus core from Kragen. Same as Checker or Shuck's, depending on where you live.

I spent about $250 for the axle, new water pump, timing belt, tensioner kit, seals/gaskets, coolant and 6 qts. of GL-4.

Another $250 in labour from my local indy, and it's all done for $500! Just need an alignment now.

once i got my hands on a 6 foot breaker bar to get the damn nut off the axle the install went very quckly... only took me like 45 minutes with my ****ty tools

only thing i kinda forgot about is that all the fluid comes gushing out of the hole once you yank the old axle out of there...

here's some pictures i took after i finished with the install http://gallery.azmaximas.org/view_al...album08&page=2

here it is all finished

Did you have any leaks after ???? I replaced mine last weekend and now i have a small leak under that axel.....
I was very careful on installation as not to damage the seal and I greased the shaft...
Any chance it is not in far enough ???? I hit it lightly with a rubber hammer and it did not move any more...
Any ideas????
