When i accelearate the engin makes a raceing sound and then soon catches up to the speed, any suggestions?

could be the transmission slipping. If it is then u will need a rebuild.

If you haven't already, try checking the transmission fluid to see if it needs changing. I've had the same problem and it went away after I changed the fluid. Hope this helps!
