Coolant By-Pass mod?
Coolant By-Pass mod?
There was a modification for my last car (1988 Honda Prelude Si) which I did which appears can be done to the 2nd Gen Maxima too. This mod is for people in warm climates that do not get lower temps than 30 in the winter time.
Throttle Body Coolant By-Pass mod. (Its very simple)
A hose from the main coolant flow is diverted into the throttle body to warm it up , and we all know you don't want heated air, then the coolant is diverted out back into the next place where the coolant normally goes. If you run a hose from the main coolant flow exit port to the "re-entrance" port it will avoid the throttle body all together causing no 180degree coolant to flow threw it.
BEWARE, winter time in cold climates your throttle body will cause you pain and agony with this mod.

I have done it on both of my maximas. Its not hard to do once your have your plenum off. I did this mod on my 98 because I am running a pathfinder TB, and I did it on the 87 because the coolant lines did not match up on my stanza TB.
