Aside from the rust that looks like a half decent car.

its sat for a year, runs incredibly rich and is a gross polluter. ive replaced the plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, new fluids, and today i installed a new o2 sensor and it doesnt have a pulsing idle, but when flooring it, it doesnt have ANY power past 4500, and the RPM on the tach is 6K.

yeah its an 82, has 4 gears, the paint is absolute trash. 10000 grit sandpaper is smoother, and the interior is crap, and most of the car for that matter. sunroof doesnt open either. i think the new spark plugs that i put on are already fouled since they were on it without the o2 sensor. ill have to check when i get my socket back.

Ok, lets get it stright!!! Is it a 4 speed manual transmission, or a three speed auto with an overdrive switch?????
You might try unplugging the cold start valve and see if helps the rich condition!

Trace the loose hose back to its source. You may want to get a new vaccuum hose from Autozone. Its not expensive they just cut it to your length you need. The canister in the back is the Carbon Canister. They are expensive to replace because they are hard to find brand new. It deals with the emissions for the vehicle. The hose kit, they may not have just walk in there with a piece of your hose and I would say measure them before you go in there so you know how many you need and how long to get them.

i cant read the hose diagram well enough to find out where the hose should go, or where exactley that spot is.

Eric, Take a look at my engine compartent at
http://www.kodakgallery.com/BrowsePh...id=12760666108
See if that's any help? Any vacuum hose that's cracked, or broken is bad news for the engine, it'll burn valves real quick. Don't buy hose cut to length, buy enough to replace all of it, 10-15 ft will cost about $5-$6 at most.
Good luck, Earl

The piece that the small hose is resting on shows up in the service manual under part of the Service Procedures (Air conditioner). It is called the F.I.C.D. magnet valve.

yours is a little too blurry to be able to tell whats happening there.

heres a pic of the connecting spot for the hose (the vacuum one is at the top, then another hose, the only other one, goes and connects to a peice right next to it.)

The part that you have circled in red is found in the Service manual under Service Procedures (Air conditioner) and it is called a Fast Idle Actuator with the hose from the top coming from the F.I.C.D. magnet valve.

so the blue hose goes to one on the left side of the engine near the carbon canister, and the red hose goes to the FCID magnet valve.

Two hoses connect to that valve. The larger of the two (connected to the valve toward the front of the vehicle) connects with two other hoses on a "T" connection. The smaller of the two that connect to that valve connect on the firewall side of the vehicle.

Sorry for the confusion Eric. Using this picture with the F.C.I.D. (circled in gray) the larger of the two hoses connects to the F.C.I.D. (facing the front of the vehicle) with the "T" connection to two hoses.
The smaller of the two hose connects with the F.C.I.D. facing the firewall.

I don't know how to get pictures on here so I will try to email you one from my 84 showing the F.C.I.D. valve with an ink pen to separate the hoses.

From the looks of your underhood picture, your brake fluid is low, and the light on the dash is trying to tell you!!!!!! Earl

P.S. The cold start valve has an electrical plug, just like an injector, just behind the throtle, on top of the manifold.

well, a friend of mine whos a tech showed me that my FPR was broken, so i was getting full PSI, plus some of it going straight into the manifold since the diaphram on it was sucking gas in.

and the only resovoir you can see is for the washer fluid?

well, just replaced the FPR (bigger pain in the *** than i thought it would be) and the car still runs about the same, it moves pretty slow up to 4750 then shifts. should it be shifting this low or near the redline?

wouldnt it just be easier to get an L28DET and put it in there, all of these damn hoses, seems like trouble, then youll have a turbo max.

and now im completely stumped as to my lack of performance/gas mileage. the lead wire wasnt doing its job, so i put the old one back on, and i drove it around and it seemed like the low end was a little better, but now its back to being the same. anyone have any other suggestions?

It almost sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Also, your hoses look like they are about to turn into dust. You can get some vacuum hoses for dirt cheap in a variety of sizes. A lot of them sell on eBay for under $20.

Have you done the routine maintenence checks (plugs, wires, etc)?

plugs/wires are brand new. plugs might be fouled already though, havent had time to check. but i replaced a few of the vacuum hoses, and got a new set, but the rubber on the hose was too big and could only fit in one spot. about how many vacuum hoses are there?
