Mad at me and my new SE, Help!

Well shame on me for not checking this rig out more before I bought it. I saw it ,crused around the block a couple times and bought it for 2350,with a sparkling clean engine, like new interior, everything working, and a one owner. He said he had all these reciepts too. I was so excited I bought it and forgot about asking for the reciepts,a few days later he gave me some and says when he gets back in a couple weeks he find the rest.

Here is what I now know about the car.

1. The shifting into third is abnormal and to fix means a rebuild. 1000.000 Mite as well rebuild the whole thing.

2. The slight flutter in the stearing has something to do with the seperated tierod boot on the rack and pinion where there is a leak.Meaning a rebuild setup is in order (250-300 dollars)plus RR.

3. The clutch is week and worn and I am into it now. $240/with flywheel.

4. The struts are shot- there is another 600 smackeroos to put good ones on.

5. Then I will need a 4 wheel alighnment.

6. The front and rear crossover motor mounts are bad.Nissan wants $330 for those. And I havent found another sorce for them yet.

I am screwed,angry,depressd,........ But determined to make the best of the circomstances.

If you can help me with any part of this mess let me know.

The car has 123,000 on it and is strong and straight so I will fix it and keep it. Help me save some money would Ya.

I feel a little better now. Lane

3. The clutch is week and worn and I am into it now. $240/with flywheel.

It would be cheaper to just buy another 5spd trany than rebuild the orginal one. Goto www.car-part.com to find the closest one to you

123k miles is about average for an OEM clutch. But I suggest you get an aftermarket clutch like ACT. Sure it costs more but its a better clutch than OEM. You can get it from www.carparts.com.

4. The struts are shot- there is another 600 smackeroos to put good ones on.
If you goto www.shox.com or www.carparts.com you can buy KYB GR2 struts for $60 each. If you have some tools you can do the install yourself. Now if your car has the adjustable struts, you can try a cheap fix first. If you were to take apart the strut itself and replace the O-ring this *should* restore it to like new condition. Assuming you refill the struts. I know the rear can be done like this but the fronts are alot harder, so I figure get KYB's for the fronts.

5. Then I will need a 4 wheel alighnment.

Here is how you can fix the motor/tranny mounts for $40, of course this depends on how much work you want to do. http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaver...r/mounts.html.

BTW you should think about replacing the timing belt if it hasn't been done so. 123k miles is right on schedule for the belt change. If you do decide to get it replaced, get a new waterpump, thermostat, camshaft and front crankshaft oil seals and new drivebelts installed. This way you can get all this stuff done for the same labor amount and not worry about any leaks.
