Parting out '87 Maxima

Head gasket blew. Lots of good and newer parts. Tan with brown leather seats. All the bells and whistles/sunroof/etc. Tell me what you need. Also new in box KONI shocks, front and rear, never installed, $100. Email me at jsbsssjs@aol.com. Going to get towed for salvage soon- tired of grief from my wife over it sitting here.

I'm sorry about your car and what occurred to it, I'd be upset and disappointed too. I don't understand what happened though, I thought the only event that would occur on our cars and if it did, was the timing belt snapping and destroying the engine. If this is something I can check and replace myself, please let me know. I suppose the gasket cracked and coolant leaked into the cylinders? Is that it? With the head gasket blowing, did it ruin any parts? I'm sorry about the common sense questions, I'm still an intermediate regarding our cars. Any tips on preventing something like this from happening to my car?

On a positive note, we both have the same Maxima's or rather had.....

How much for the stock rims and tires? Also, if you had a Cold Air Intake setup, how much for that?

Unless the head gasket let fluid into a cylinder and you bent something you should be able to just replace the head gasket and keep a good car.

maybe hes just sick of working on a car that always needs something else fixed...and the car might not be worth as much as the repairs

Koni's are the best struts you can get for out cars. I talked to him about them several times but could never convince myself to buy them since I already had aftermarket struts. They cost some where around 400-500 new if you can even get them any more. Its a great deal in other words.

I think what caused this was having a mechanic replace the timing belt when i had him install a water pump and not knowing how to do it correctly. I think he screwed up the piston to intake valve position. The car ran on a little on the hot side from the bad piston to valve timing. Over time (several years) the gasket gave out. So... when you replace the timing belt follow Nissan's instructions carefully to make sure the belt is properly placed. The pressure of the exhaust gas blew the radiator.

yea i talked to him to but something about buying shocks/struts that have been sitting for about 15 years bugged me

I want the entire car shipped to me. That'll put you at ease.

By the way, how much for the muffler?

Glove box and center console spoken for.

Engine parts anyone? Newly replaced injectors, stock air intake, speaking lady box, relays, COMPUTER DISPLAY of mpg, etc.(Sits at bottom of center dash console). MAF, other parts you may need down the road???? Sunroof glass, HOOD lifter pistons? The car will be gone in a week.

[QUOTE=shaughn]that's fine.

... drivers side automatic seat belt motor & cable.

I don't think the seatbelts on mine are motor-driven...
Send me an offer for the voice box to jsbsssjs@aol.com

Which center console? between seats or the center dash console?

UPDATE: I'll be pulling the parts you guys have requested this weekend . If you haven't yet committed to the parts you are looking for you need to let me know what you want to do. After this weekend the car sadly goes off to the graveyard. So if there are any other takers let me know ASAP. Let's keep those maxima's running and looking good!

What's the status of that picture? While you're at it, could you take a picture of the engine bay?

How much for the drive computer shipped to 37830?

Also, would you happen to know if our cars are pre-wired for it if they didn't come with it?
