can someone please tell me what that light means??? My mechanic told me it might be my alternator.. so I swapped that out with a brand new one, still comes on when I have the car in the "on" position.. battery has at least 12 volts, usually 14. Am I missing something? Did I just spend $75 and a ton of my time changing out an alternator that I didn't have to? Thanks.

Id usually think it means

that the battery is low and needs to be replaced or recharged dunno though, Ive never had that happen only when the key is in the "on" position

Drive your ride over to a auto parts store that has a roll around battery tester and have the guy roll the machine out and check out your battery as well as your charging system.
This test is usually free...because electrical parts are not so easy to take a chance like you have experienced.
Call around stores like Kragens (for sure they do), Pep Boys (not sure if they do), Sears (not sure if they do), Napa (not sure if they do), Autozone (for sure they do)...will do this kind of test..to verify component failure.

Also, check your battery water level (and use distilled water to top off - yes, water you use to put in the clothes iron) and make sure your battery terminal and top case is clean of nasty buildup esp. the positive terminal on Nissan's - the copper also corrodes easy.

Good Luck...

had them test the system...

when I took the old alternator back to get the core $$ back (that $40 insurance that you bring them your old one).. system checked out perfect. Nothing wrong with it. Guy said there might be an intermitant (sp?) short somewhere (or something like that.. was about 8 hours ago). I'll check the water level in the morning, tho. Connectors should be fine. Both are on securely, and I cleaned the positive connector not too long ago.. but it might be dirty.

While this is at the top, anyone have the code for the replacement for the AC Relay??? The one from my car (25230 C9963) isn't carried by Advanced Auto. Couldn't get to Pep Boys before they closed today, and I really don't want to pay to get it from Nissan. Flipping through a book of relays with the woman at adv auto, 25230 C9965 looked exactly like it, but the metal tabs weren't shown, so we couldn't see if it was the same (not that it mattered, because the warehouse was out of them so I couldn't order it). Can anyone give me the # for the replacement AC Relay?? The one I'm looking for is in the top row, just right of the center space in the relay box in the engine. Thx
