New Turbo Project/Parts For Sale (Long)

Well I'm coming home from college this week so I figured I would introduce the project that my friend and I will be working on this summer. Over the winter we bought a black 87 5sp maxima in good condition for cheap. Our plans are to now take this car and make it into a full drag car. While this may sound stupid, I have been around the z31 long enough to know the true potential of the VG30 and we think that the 2nd gen Max could be an awesome sleeper car.

So far, we have a turbo kit from a z31 300zx (thanks maximase86) along with an 88na ecu, a romulator for custom fuel and timing maps, and dsm 450cc injectors to be installed. Other plans include fully stripping the interior and exterior down, removal of all unnecesary engine accesories, installing a roll cage and intercooler, removing the exhaust, and a home port and polish job. With these mods we are planning to run 12-15 psi with the stock turbo and put down 250-300whp, which we hope will put us well into the 13s. Keep in mind this is just a basic rundown of the modifications. The bottom end will be kept stock.

Since we are stripping the car down, we have tons of parts that we need to get rid of cheap. The exterior is black and the interior is tan. Example:http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/3840/mvc027f4ho.jpg
The entire interior is going minus the instrument cluster and front seats. Parts on the exterior including the mirrors, sun roof and motor, antenna, etc are also going. The AC and any emissions controls are also up for sale. Basically if you need a part, PM me and I will let you know on availability and price.

Sorry for the long post and I will make sure to keep you guys updated on progress and I'll put some pics up later this week.

woot, sounds like you guys got a nice track car in the works. Are you planning for straight drag or plan to get some auto-x in? I can say from the sounds of it, you're going to easily get the car weight down to 2500-2700 lbs. With 250-300whp, that car is going to be fast. On top of that you're going to get a little more grunt out of the 9.1cr too. Definately keep us all in the loop. I'm glad to see someone who dives in and makes it happen. Reminds me of me on a few projects.

For now, we don't have the funds to get into auto-x this summer. Next summer we might though. Thanks for the support, and we'll make sure to update.

Well, I own a Maxima (obviously...), but I was talking to my friend Caleb, and he mentioned one of his friends that were looking to build the fastest 2nd gen, and here I am looking at the build thread. I don't know him personally, but I know of him from a friend.

Looks like a cool project, definately keep everyone updated.

Hey this is Matt. Yea I just told Caleb about it the other day. BigLou, do you park in B-Lot with a Maxima.org sticker on one of your windows? The dark blue Accord with the yellow emblems is mine.
