looking for a manual tranny for my 85' anyone know where i can get one somewhere around Waterloo,IA?, or does anyone know how hard it is to put an AT in it?

 

If you convert your 5-speed to auto, I guarantee I will fly there and kick your ***.

Look for a tranny from 85-91 model years.

so any mt from 85-91 will work in it? no mods or anything else has to be done?

 

Well there are some changes for the 89-91 trannies. You will need to transfer the shifter assembly. The speed sensor will need to be swapped, and also one of the mounts will only fit 2 of the 3 mount holes. You can probably redrill the mount to make it work...but I ran my car with 2 before I got rid of it and it held up fairly well.
