going turbo???

those strips look like they will be used to strengthen the x-member. They tend to break due to torque gained by the adding of a turbo

You're going to put weather stripping on your crossbeam????!!!??????!!!

You best be converting to 5-speed as well. If I find out you went turbo and kept it auto, I'm so driving down and smacking you in the face with my volvo.

Well, there's a problem with that. You could turn up the boost, but you'd still need some form of fuel managment or that motor will be short lived because you will lean out like a ****. Also if you are using the stock T3, you probably are only going to get 10psi max out of it. Anything more and you just pumping heat into your motor as the turbo is terribly inefficient beyond that....and even 10 psi is pushing it.

Id have to agree with Sarin. I think anything below that for these cars would be enough. Anything to get the car more than what it initially is pumping out would help lol. I saw a nice 300zx with a custom turbo kit at a shop here dynoing some f-bodies. Oh so nice.

well taking the engine apart i discovered something!!!!........

this is piston number one

number 3 isist dimpled but it is badly scratched

so now the vg30et block is destroyed but all hope is not lose im gonna use the vg30e block and swap out the pistons and reuse the vg30et heads awwwh man this is a project in a half both blocks are totally stripped so when i get the pistons back in im gonna put all of the acessories back in and we should have a turbo max this delayed me a few days but its all goot experience..

Excellent choice with the 300zx motor and ECU. I have a few suggestions, some of which you may have already considered:

1) Run only wastegate boost to begin with. With the 300zx TT ECU you should not need to tune but it's best to play it safe to begin with.

2) I'm not sure of the trans/engine compatibility. Make sure the automatic trans will be able to mate up to the flywheel without much modification. A slight adjustment in bolt pattern will be okay but anything past that will take a miracle to adjust.

3) Toughen up your trans with an external cooler and external filter. The filter will keep smaller pieces of trash out of your trans that the internal filter could only dream of catching. Also install a transmission temperature gauge. You can never be too safe.

Good luck on your turbo project.

You're going to need wiring diagrams from both wiring harnesses (one for Max and one for 300ZX) in order to match each one's function. Once you trace the wires its as simple as crimping/soldering, though I prefer soldering if you are good at it.

The only problem is figuring out if the ECU from the 300zx makes adjustments based on the same voltage readings as what is being output by your existing wiring harness.

Does the new module not directly plug in to the 300zx ECU? I would think it should.

i am nearly finished with this swap as for the tranny, everything bolted straight up, as for the ecu it all connects perfectly nothing odd except for the idle also i fot the intercooler in and all piped up, i was also thinking of using an intake manifold from a 200sx v6 so that the intake port is in the middle for that more jdm look, getting the exaust welded on monday, as for useable parts on the bottom end...... not really not even the oil pan had to make a bung for it, i already have a tranny cooler but i didnt think about the filter i have a 300zx oil cooler installed as well, and for tyerW, the wiring should be the same voltage because i used the 3003x ecu in my 85 with no neg problems, so im guessin it all works but well see a lil later in the week ill post pics on sunday or monday of the intake intercooler setup, mototmounts, ecu, idle wiring, btw i figured why cylinder number 1&3 was trashed the idiot's timing was way too advanced, dont really have a internet connection at home anymore but ill try my hardest to keep you guys posted on the 5th turbocharged second gen max...

naah i swapped them out for a nother set of 300zx pistons since the block was kinda trashed as well im using the block, crankshaft, 300zx turbo pistons, 300zx turbo heads, it was a long journey to build but i made it. so i gusee its kinda of the origonal bottom end and block

i got a bomb a$$ pic but i cant upload it at the library
