Hard time passing inspection?
I took the car to get it inspected and the place i took it too was a freaking joke ...
I payed the guy upfront 70 plus another 20 to look past it being lowered and such...
And the guy said he would just pass me , and to come back an hour later .
1.The car needs to be returned to stock hieght ( pissed about this the most because he said he would pass it since it was lowered...
2.He said the master cyl needs to be replaced .. I just replaced it like 500 miles ago...
3.He said my 3rd brake light comes on when you turn the lights on ... ( Its sopost to... )
4.the reverse lights do not come on when you put it in reverse .. ( You have to start moving the car in reverse then they come on... )
5.Tire sizes are not the factory recommended sizes ... ( 195 60 15 in front and 195 65 15 in the rear... )
6.My bumber lights in the front are sopost to be amber ... ( They came white from the factory... )
7.Motor mount is from a diffrent car ... ( BULL **** it came with the car... )
8.Radar dectector is in the way of vision.. ( Its on the dash... Its not in any way... )
9.Headlights are not bright enough .... ( I asked him if he turned the car on when he tested them so the alt would kick in to give the right voltage and he said no.... )
10. No rear saftey belts ... ( They are right there connected just suft under the seat a little since they are dirty .. )
11. Parking brake needs to be adjusted .. ( Parking brake seems fine my girls house is on like a 180 angle hill... No problems there.. )
12. He made up some bull**** about my brake rotor's not being made for a front wheel drive car ...
13. Last but not least i think they broke my fing steering column... I am 90 percent postitive it was not how it is now when i took it there...
theres more about some bolts not being tightended with an air compressor tool and done with hand tools ...

not illegal - as long as the bumper heights fall within the range specified in MD automotive code.

no, it isn't. It's only supposed to come on when you press the brake pedal. It should be OFF when your lights are on and you're off the brakes.
yup, they have to come on when you SHIFT into reverse.
this is ABSOLUTELY irrelevant. There is no law against changing tire sizes.
if the bulbs are amber, it doesn't matter what color the lenses are.

so...take it off the dash during inspection.
does he have a light meter or something?

I don't see how they could "break" your steering column doing an inspection.
bolts shoudl NEVER be tightened with an air impact wrench. NEVER.
A few things:
1. you definitely have things that would cause you to fail. Fix them
2. he is definitely full of crap on other things
3. since you paid him $70 to pass you and he accepted, you should report him to DMV or elsewhere as having accepted a bribe. Do it anonymously.
4. why dont you just go to another place. go someplace REPUTABLE.
5.. aren't you about to lose your licesne anyhow? Guess you'll have plenty of time to fix the car.
the bottom line, though, is that you have at least 5 things that would definitely fail you in VA inspection, and MD inspection (3rd brake light, parking brake, seat belts, reverse lights, radar detector). So even though he added other crap, you still deserved to fail. Sorry.

i took it to hometown auto repair in finksburg.... on 140... because i was told they where the best in my area.. BAD IDEA...

A few things:
1. you definitely have things that would cause you to fail. Fix them

About the caliper he said it was not made for the left rear side of the car Its the caliper from the factory ....
and as for the bulb's for the front turn signals on the front bumper they are the ones from the factory....
Also for the lights not being brite enough , He said they have this machine that reads how brite they are .
and i dont know about any other 2nd gen owners on here but out of the few 2nd gens i have had the reverse lights do not come on untill you take you're foot off the clutch..
And as for the 3rd brake light im assuming he ment the light that is inside the car in the rear window ?
when you turn the lights on it comes on but is dim just like all the other rear lights that change to real bright when you step on the brake pedal ill check it out tommarow but i never new that is sopost to be diffrent...
and as for the brake rotors being to big i think he mumbled some thing about too much of the brake pad being on the rotor...
And for the motor mount its like a dish style motor mount maybe he has never seen one like that before ???
for the master cyl he said some thing about fluid being on the cap ? im deff going to clean the bay out agian before i take it in because im sure it was just some fluid that got on the cap while i was adding more..
You have you're car lowered also ? Do the rear springs move a tiny bit in the seat when you're rear is on jack stands and the wheels are not touching the ground ? Thats what the suspension tech springs i have on my car do in the rear and all the hardware is tightend and all the washers are on correctly. and he said lowering a automobile from its stock factory stance could cause danger and if a cop noticed my car was lowered i would get a ticket ?
I see all these cars " Honda's " With cut springs with the cars scrapping the ground and yet they dident have problems with passing inspection? Unless the did it after the inspection?
Yeah i do understand you're point about the radar detector and the belts being pushed under the seats a little but still i gave him 70 + 20 more to over look the lowering and such since he noticed it... And that was our agreement..
And then at the end of the whole thing he gave me a estimate of well over 1k to fix every thing because a few parts had to be bought from japan ? when i know every thing i have ever replaced on my car i bought from autozone or a local part store?
Are all state inspection places like this ? or did i just find a bad one?
