Radiator Fans in '86 Max
I am conviced that one of the two radiator fans in my 86 is not working. One fan comes on when the A/C is turn on and the other one is supposed to come on based on coolant temp (I think). Does anyone know exactly how the operation of these fans is determined? I remember the second fan operating frequently when the car was newer, but now the fan never comes on. How can I home-test this thing? Thanks in advance.

On my 86SE, the second fan comes on when I have the blower switch set to the higher speed, namely 3 or 4. I didn't notice how they were operating when the car was new. I only recently started to read the service manual while doing other repairs. Both fans should be on when the AC is turned on. Doesn't say anything about at what blower speed. I will check the wiring diagram later.
