think they use a vaine type bypass valve (i would just get the filter type) and you can get a filter with the shilding all around it http://www.freewebs.com/dacvolvo/Induction.jpgto keep it cleaner and keep water splash from the tiers...

yeah because the biggest problem i would have is water coming in and water-locking my engine
i replaced my filter a few months ago but i got a K&N from a 3rd gen at the junkyard in the summer so i'll be using that soon

I just bought a 1987 maxima. I am extremely happy with it. It's ugly but it's starting to grow on me.
I got it from a little old lady. Car has 67,000 kms or 40,000 miles. She was the single owner of the car and all receipts from day one including the original bill of sale. Every oil change and always brought to the dealer. Rust proofed every year.
Now I need suspension and rims and she's good!

well guys im pleased to say that i saved yet another hu11 maxima from the scrapper! this one is a black 5-speed 87! it was gonna get crushed mon but i bought it for $250
so that makes i think the 5th one ive saved from certain death!

seats are easy, you just have to remove the 2 bolts at the front on the bracket, and on the rear pop off the plastic cover and theres 2 more and the seat will come out. i was going to see if 2nd gen seat brackets would fit my 3rd gen when i needed manual brackets for my Sparco seats, and i got one out and one almost out except for a stripped bolt and later on a 3rd gen with manual brackets came so i didnt need them
i think thats the power cable for the automatic seats under there, there might be a little plastic piece you need to pinch with one hand and with the other hand pry apart the connectors with a small flathead

It's me, the Kuddster again. Still can't post threads or I would have by now. So I pulled the computer out from under the passenger seat and sure enough, I need another one. My email is kuddster46@gmail.com so if anyone has a spare just laying around, I will pay for the shipping of such item if you can just spare it. I don't have the kind of money to be paying for a new one or one out of a junkyard so I am asking for one that someone has laying around collecting dust in the corner somewhere. I want to hear her running again and purring like the little kitten she was. Please guys, from one maxima lover to another.

Oh dude, it's fried. Let just say every connection inside the ECU is rusted, corroded, and some capacitors are exploded. So yes, it got wet. lol
I plan on checking the computer behind the dash to see if it's fried too. I'll let you know tomorrow. If it is fried, I want to try and find an electric dash version, because i have a digital dash to put in my maxima.

Here's the deal. Since the 15 post rule still applies to me, I will be poting my request here. This is for anyone who may have a 85-88 SE Maxima that has either a blown engine, or no engine at all in it. I want to find another maxima to rebuild with parts from mine, including the engine. I would prefer a 5-speed but if you only have an auto, then ill still take it even without a trans in it, i will replace it with mine. I am willing to travel from WVa, Va, and NC to get this done. I am not looking to pay more than $200 because my tow bill will cost me at least $300-$400 just to get it towed to WVa. So basically I am looking for another maxima, and it has to have a title. It does not have to be an SE, but i would like to have the interior intact.
So, rules: Interior intact, does not have to have an engine or trans, unless it is a 5-speed in which I would want the trans to be in it. And it has to have a title. Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help me out.

No Diasiss. I am going to use parts of it to build a new one. Preferrably one with a title. The one i have now was bought out of the junkyard, you remember that.. i cant get the title for it,ill never get rid of the white one. ever. its too pretty to junk, but i DO NEED one to show off and drive. I practically have the oldest and least rusted car in town. :P
