CAI question

For Cold Air Induction, I should run the 3" hose through the hole that's already in the fender, right? (after enlarging it, of course)

If so, how do I get the black plastic thing (the piece the airbox cover attaches to) out of there? It seems attached pretty good, and I don't want to just start ripping apart things. Took me forever to get the airbox off 'cause it seemed like everything was attached to something else.

Thanks,
Jorge

take out your cornering lights and you will be able to see in there pretty good . Then you will be able to just pull the black plastic piece out of there

I dont know the horsepower number but you can definately tell the difference. It also makes it sound better too.

Well I've run into some problems.

The hole saw drill bit I got (3.5") was a bad idea, even though I could have sworn someone suggested it. I guess the way hole saws work is by grabbing onto a flat surface with the drill bit and pulling the saw part through.

What should I use to widen that hole?

Also, the 3" Aluminum Duct I got doesn't plug into the k&n filter you suggested (RU-3580). Should I just cut the bottom off another soup can and clamp them all togehter, or should they already go together?

I ended up just pluging the filter into my adapter and it runs fine for now. I would like to get CAI soon though.

Thanks for all your help,
Jorge

My CAI was good for 11hp/13tq on the dyno at the peaks with an average gain of 14hp/9tq from 4000-5500rpm. This mod helped my car run a 16.7 @ 81mph vs 17.0 @ 79mph with a cone filter.
