Anyone Know if 2nd and 3rd Gen Idler Pulleys the Same?

2nd gen PS idler is listed as a dealer only part at $90 online, so I need a cheaper source. Rockauto pics and dimensions for the 3rd gen power steering idler looks like the 2nd gen. PS idler is 83.5 m OD x 12 mm ID x 18 mm width, which is the same for both gens. The AC Delco pic link http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,6956. In fact both the PS and AC idlers looks the same. Can any confirm the PS idlers pulley is the same on both gens?

the only diffi noticed is that some of the bolt holes on the 3rd gen aluminum mount are different. but the pilley and adjuster itself are the same. i ended swapping out the steel pump racket for the aluminum one and it still works fine.

OK cool. I just bought an aftermarket pulley for the 3rd gen online and will post back when I get it.

The Gates 36115 aftermarket pulley fitment is great and it is very quiet. Here are the details : The diameter and width of the pulley are nearly identical, but I found that the distance along the bolt axis from the flat of bearing inner race to the pulley rim was wider on the front by .025" and rear .044" . This is the mounting area that determines the width. This was OK and helped my belt alignment somewhat since the OEM pulley was off about .060". There is a note on the Gate part box stating that the pulley might be slightly different from the OEM, so dust shield might not fit and to not use the shield if there is an interference problem. Not sure about that one, I'd probably try different washers first. The part is made in China (what isn't these days) but has no brand on the double sealed bearing - just a number. Looks like a Chinese bearing from JINB . The part looks of decent quality and has a lifetime warranty. Time will tell.
