Engine mounts on a 2nd Gen?

One of my motor mounts is bad, and I'm 90% sure its the one in the rear of the motor. Car pops out of 3rd or 4th sometimes when you get on and off the gas because of that.

Anyone ever change that one? I wanna know if the engine beam needs to be dropped to service it, or it can be done with it intact?

Sorry for the n00b question, this motor confuses me a bit. haha

TA, do you feel any "movement" in the front end, like an actual "shift" of components to indicate the engine is actually loose? In other words, is the engine actually moving when the gas is stepped on due to the torque twist of the motor? It may be a loose shift linkage bracket or something like that. I know on my '87 5-speed (identical car to yours), when I get on the gas especially 1st and 2nd, I can see the whole front end dip down just a tad to the right due to engine torque (twisting)...but no popping out of gear.

Put her up on ramps and get a visual of that mount, see if you see anything out of the ordinary...

BTW, would love to see pics of your Supra!

I had it doubled checked with someone with mechanical experience, and it is the rear mount. Now I'm gonna hunt down the parts, Id like to do this once and never again. Ill probably change the front one while I'm at it if the beam has to go down. I can probably change the oil pressure sender which was broken off by someone in the past doing an oil change while I'm at it.

Bought her in 2009 from the first owner. 175k, Automatic. Needing some work. Drove it stock with basic maitenance for two years, Then I did a 5 speed swap and coilover suspension in early 2011.
August 2009.

March 2011 after the 5 speed, suspension and wheels.

I broke the oil pan last summer, and parked her up. Gonna do a tear down an rebuild on it, to do a Megasquirt'd 5MGTE.

SWEET RIDE!!! Buddy of mine bought one new back then, had black BBS basketweaves (black lace, chrome trim rings) and Comp T/As put on...they were stolen twice!! Insurance paid, but finally went back to the stockers...

I worked for Lockheed-Martin back in those days, we all got paid well...so lots of nice new cars!
