OEM vs Aftermarket Radiator and Heater Hose Fitment/Quality
Looking for input for those of you who have replaced the above hoses recently either OEM or AM such as Gates , Dayco etc. I've found Dayco belts to be solid (Polycog premium line), some say Gates hoses are better. Looks like some Nissan OEM are discontinued and other are $$$.

I've got the original hoses too - with 73K miles. No cracks and they are still pliable, maybe too pliable. I noticed some ballooning during a pressure test on the lower rad hose (pump inlet to the lower pipe). They are starting to take a set around the clamp area too. They might be OK, but not sure I want to chance it.
I just read postings elsewhere that Gates hoses are thicker and have may have a better fitment in some cases. I know the fitment partially depends on the number of vehicles they try cover with one part, especially since our second gens are getting old and it won't pay to make a single part. I've got Dayco hoses and belts on my other car for 14 years and both are still in great shape.

Why not pull the hoses off and see what kind of condition they are in on the inner walls? If you see any cracking or splitting, then swap them out. It's not like the new hoses (Gates, Dayco, whomever) are gonna crap out in the next 50K miles, and you lose some coolant. Big deal...
