heat/ac blower can it be upgraded?

I'd been told that the blower motor in older cars like my 88' 'SE just is smaller than most newer cars and the air is blowing as hard as it can for now. Is there a sensible upgrade or junkyard motor that would work well and safely?

Thanks for replies.....

possibly could be upgraded but shouldnt need to be. my max has a stronger blower than both my other 2 newer cars. id verify that your charging system is good first because low voltage will cause that problem. its also possible that your blower motor is just worn out.

Dash pad blocking airflow

I think this began years ago when a replaced my dash pad. I recall some difficulty finding the holes for the tube like extensions off the back of the vents. I wonder if i need to remove and reinspect the fit. How would I go about getting to that blower to clean it out or replace it?

oh and the blower motor is passenger side foot well, I think there is a cover over it but should be able to get to motor and pull it out with 3 bolts, when you look under the dash it will be the round part that sticks out of the vent system just to the outside of the glove box
