Oil Leak....(Leaking Oil stick) ?
Seems like I have oil leaks on my 87 Nissan Maxima....
The O-ring in the distributor is what I thought was the only leak, until I
saw oil jumping out of
a hole where the oil stick goes.
The rubber gaskets around the stick are worn to the stick just pops out....
Anybody experienced this ?

I replaced the PCV valve and the oil pressure on
the gauge dropped by a lot, down to where it
used to be when I first got the car.
I've considered buying another oil stick, is
there any reason that I should ?
Is there anything else that I might need to
replace now that I've replaced the PCV valve ?
Would the "Stop-Leak" stuff in the bottles help
out here at all ?
How good is that stuff ?
The car is old and I was told that the seals
might be worn. One of them was supposedly
replaced just before I bought the car about 2
months ago.
thanks..

Low Oil pressure after PVC valve replacement...

it gets near 60 psi when it is cold, but drops down after the car
warms up....
before I replaced the PVC valve, the pressure usually would stay
around 60 psi or more...
It was about this way when I first got the car, but since then I've
had a major seal leak, as well as valve covers...\
any ideas, or was my sending unit bad the entire time (haven't
replaced that one yet)
where is the oil sending unit anyway ?

IIRC as long as the oil psi is around 9-15psi at idle when its at normal temp its fine. But a stuck PVC valve would cause high oil pressure. As for the oil leaks do you know exactly where it is?

Well, that's about where it's at...so I guess I
really don't have a problem...
Current oil leak is in the distributor....needs a
new O-ring/seal....

new pcv valve was a good idea, your oil pressure will depend on the miles you have on your engine and how well it has been take care of too. sending unit can leak, nissans seem to leak alot on their units. i would start cleaning the motor and seeking out specific oil leaks, some cheap and easy many are hard and can take a whole lot of work. how many miles you have on your car? i would not recomment putting any oil leak stopper in your car, its just foreign crap waiting to build up in the oil pick up screen. slick 50 is about all i would put in an engine but the oil but even then i wouldnt stick anything in it unless it really needs it.
