Error Code 44

Yeah, my Chilton's manual doesn't list a code 44 in it. You may be able to use the '85 ECU in your '87 as long as they both have the same tranny (auto/manual). I don't think that you can swap ECU's if they have different trannies. Also, there is a difference between the California ECU and the one used in all other cars, so you may get error codes 32, 35, 45, and 51 if you put in a CA ECU in a non-CA car.

Re: Error Code 44

Clear memory after repair, run the engine to warm. Set the computer to mode three and I get a 44 error code. Never seen it before and no books decribe it. Will the computer from my 85 work in my 87

Code 55 is for the 89 and later nissans, code 44 is all clear for the 84-88 nissans. Also IIRC means If I remember correctly.

Oops, just pulled the ecu from the 85. Them good ole boys at Nissan put an error code list on the top plate. Yes 44 is all clear. No 55 is listed as in my Chilton manual. They may tried to cover too many years or it just a miss print? Thanks for all the replies and MaxOn!
