If your screen is too dim, then yes, it likely needs replaced. The bulbs can easily be replaced with leds, which are brighter and basically wont ever burn out. You just need to wire a resistor into one of the ribbon cable terminals.

Well the problem I have with mine, is that when it is very cold in the morning, my screen is all screwed up. I need to hit it in order for it to work. It displays all sort of different symbols and most of the times the display shows what it last showed the previous time it was working. Anyhow, it needs to be replaced.

Ive got one that does go dim every once and a while but never malfunctions or show something wrong or all the stuff urs did. If u hit mine it come backs on but other than that no problems, if ur interested let me know otherwise itl just sit until i find time to try and fix it.
