electronic suspension?

i went to a performance center in town today and ordered some kyb struts for the rear of the car. the thing is: the guy asked me if the car had electronic suspension. and he had a concerned look as to whether i did have it. i had no idea what they was and never heard of it. does my 93 gxe have it? how could i find out? if it doesnt, i wont care what that is, what difference would it make whether the car had it or not? thanks

I dont think your car has it. I am pretty sure it was only available for early (89,90 and maybe 91) GXEs as an option. If you have it, there will be two buttons just below the cigarette lighter to control the firmness; if you have a coin holder there, then you dont have the electronic suspension.

my old boss has this in his 1985 Maxima SE. basically it will make your suspension softer or firmer. i am almost certian no 3rd gen has it. i only know about it because of my boss. his car also talks to him. anyway, just let you guys know. maybe as a 2nd gen'er for pics. i believe the switch is in or around the door panel or maybe by the E-brake, cant remember.

look up a few posts

yes, some 3rd gens had it, the buttons are where the rest of us have coin holders (and I'm not talking about the Power/Comfort tranny switch)

Youll also see when you open the hood caps ontop of where the Strut towers are with electrical wires and a big connector going into each one. If it doesnt have that and looks like regular strut towers just the bolts and no cap on top then you dont have it.

let me rephrase my question...
what kind of problem can you run into if you're purchasing new struts or shocks and you have electronic suspension?

The only problem is you having to convert it to use Regular struts. Its been done. The other problem is if you want replacement electrical ones that those bad boys are hella expensive.
