Wipers Again!

Hi Guys,

About a month ago I posted a problem with my wipers, after they wiped for about 10-15mins the wipers would start to like sputter up and down the windshield. Someone told me to get Nissan Blades and use Rain -X on the windshield, I did that it now I still get the same symtpons. I hope you guys can help.

Even though I haven't a clue what could be causing your problem, how the heck someone suggest Nissan blades over any other brand of blades to fix your problem. I realize getting certain items from the dealer is better than your local parts store, but come on not wiper blades.

Did you try to replace the wiper inserts or even the blades? What kind are you using now? Try a different brand.

My experience is that Rain-X makes wiper chatter, even ones that don't chatter before. If you already applied them, try removing them with window cleaners or maybe even rubbing alcohol, as the thing do stick well to the windshield (and was designed to be that way!)
Though the Rain-X do work well in the rain. Sometimes with them on you don't even need your wiper if you're moving fast enough!

I did replace the whole blade with Nissan Blades, I do notice that they actually wipe better then previous brands that I have purchased (When they don't "chatter"). I have been having this problem way before I applied the Rain-X formula to the windshield. I have also experimented with many other blades, some expensive, some not but to no avail, they all end up doing this "Chattering". The Rain-X seemed to aliviate the problem only temporarily that's about it. I am really at a loss at this point, I have no clue what to do. I don't think it's the wiper motor (or is it?). What other parts or components would cause this, maybe something that needs to be replaced. I hope you can shed some light on this pain in the butt problem.

I don't know what's causing this either, but maybe try cleaning the blades every day or so with a paper towel and carwash/glass cleaner/soapy water, whatever. Just wipe up and down the rubber until most of the black stops coming off.

I bought some new Trico blades and man, was I disappointed when they squeaked. I lived with it for a while and kept cleaning it heavily every wash or so and now they're quiet. They were fairly dirty every time I cleaned them though, and it took a while to do each blade. Maybe try this for a while and see what happens.

Also, try stripping off the Rain-X and everything you have on there. I can't remember 100%, but I think alcohol or glass cleaner won't fully remove it and only lighter fluid (butane) will. Or wait till it wears off. You could also try a glass polish which will really clean it off but not hurt the glass.
