Tires are the most essential part of any car. They are the only thing connecting you to the ground. I would suggest spending some time researching them and not just throwing "whatever" tires on your max.

Have you seen a 3rd gen with Tantrums? Then reason I ask is because I saw one when I was looking at wheels and for some reason it just didn't look like that wheel looked right on our cars. That is just my opinion though and everyone has different tastes. Good luck with the project.

maybe the first mod should be selling the car and buying a 92-94 SE 5 spd?

Are you planning on doing this in a short period of time or in a long period. Make sure the car is worth it and stuff. For instance you buy all this stuff and then something goes bad on the car. Just make sure before you start spending money into it. Do a compression test and other sort of tests which will ease your mind about the condition of your car before buying stuff for it.

Re: My Mod Plans

My god what hate. (DAG)Anywhooo your MOD ideas seem really good. The 5 speed conversion always gets negative responses when ever it is brought up because of the expenses involved. I do not know what your time frame is regarding getting the mods done however I have been at it for about 5 years with my 93 SE. I plan to keep the car forever so as I get some spare funds I put it into the car. I probably will not be finished for another 5 years but I enjoy it. So have fun and keep us posted on your project.

thanks for responding with the good and bad critizism. First off this will take me a year and a half to maybe 2 years to complete. Second off before i put any mods or tranny conversion im gonna make sure everything in the car is in perfect working order. Mine was another one of those granny/grandpa keep everything tidy and nice cars so its in great shape. it needs a new MAF and knock sensor but the vtc's are still working great, thank the lord. also one of the window regulators is broken but thats just another thing to fix. Keep the comments coming, all is appreciated.

what about...

Hey if you have a auto transmission, I read some things from www.levelten.com about keeping your automatic, and have it act the same or very similar way as a 5-speed would. It might be more expensive, but it seems like a lot less work.

Level10 suugests:
get a transmission valve body upgrade($700)
get a torque converter upgrade($500)
get one of those "ShiftTronic" devices.($1100)

so all together is about $2300... maybe the same cost of switching out, but a little easier?

Everyone should know I'm really hooked on VB upgrade... I think that everyone should get one...

Re: My Mod Plans

it all sounds good to me except the hi-flow cat. You might as well just run a straight pipe through there for half the price of the cat and probably twice the air flow. just an idea. www.testpipe.com

The Reason im gonna do the 5spd conversion instead of the automatic upgrade is because im looking at $1500 tops for the conversion as opposed to the $2300 for the automatic upgrades. plus i just like 5 spds better

just FYI.... you won't get the same power as a 5-speed with the swap because 5-speeds have a variable intake. you can get the swap and look into how you could get the VI on your car.
