Max scared me bad last night.....

I was on my way home from my gf's house when I noticed that the temp gauge was high like above the H but I didnt pay attention to it because it had been acting up and so on. Anyway to make a long story short the temp gauge wasnt acting up my lower rad hose clamp had rusted off and my hose poped off so I lost all my antifreze. I got home in time cause the car shut itself off and it was hot. The oil was burnt so I changed that and put new coolant and a new hose clamp on at 11:30 at night . Man I thought my engine was toast.

Don't breath a sigh of relief yet. Never mess with temp gauges that go high, even if they have been 'acting up'...

Above the H?

Man..like RosenKen said, don't think all is well yet. With that kind of heat , no coolant, something was bound to be damaged. Lets not hope its the head gaskets

I hope you let the car cool down a lot before you put the new water and antifreeze in...that is a good way to warp a head.

That took a few miles off the life of your engine, even if no immediatly apparent damage. Valve seals, head gaskets, bearings, rings..all don't like heat that much, especially if the oil was hot enough to be burnt..looses lubricating properties. Good luck my friend.

I hope nothing serious but you should pay more attention and not allow that gauge to go up that high.

I guess that's why you shouldn't assume things with engines!

I hope you don't have VE engine in your car. Aluminum heads warp very easily. My current Max had a new (or rather, used) engine just because of such happenstance: the head warped due to overheating.
