Automatic window rolldown

On both of my cars, 1990 SE and 1991 GXE the automatic window rolldown switch doesn't work right. When i press it it rolls down like 6 inches then stops, then i press again and it does the same till i get it all of the way down. Here's the weird part, the switch will work absolutlely fine if it is hot outside... any ideas of what this could be??? Thanks.

I have had the same exact problem! Eventually my window would not roll up so I replaced the regulator. Even though it has been replaced I tend to have the same issue just not as severe..

This happened to me too.I shot some contact cleaner into the switch and worked it back and forth a few times.Try that once or twice and see if it helps. It worked for me.You can get the cleaner at radioshack.

my window doesn't roll down at all.... but the thing is that when in push down the auto roll down button for a while... window rolles down all the way. when i let go of the switch, then it goes right back up. is this the regulator problem or the switch itself??
It holds down the window when i press the down button ... soon as i let go, goes right up.... press down on the down button, window stays in that position. very weird

sounds like maybe your switch is stuck in the up position which would be very bad. i would get that checked out very quickly.

In my max, either the window does go down, or doesn't go down. Usually it doesn't go down at all, so I'm going to try that contact cleaner idea, and I'll let ya know what happens. Thanks.

Same problem, I'm quite sure it's a result of pushing the button up for an excess amount of time. (trying to roll up the window when it's already rolled up)

I'm guessing the mechanics are just clogged and can't take the abuse.
