when I first got mine I thought I was stuck with a slow riceburner! Before this car I had a trans am and after blowing several motors in like 4 months I decided on something a little more reliable. My dad actually bought the max for my mom but theat same day i threw a rod in the TA. After driving it for awhile I wasnt too impressed so my "fix it up" gene came into play. I didnt want something that looked like a grown up civic so I did it using mostly american car parts. first was a custom exhaust, no muflers with a 4 inch bellow me tube tip. Then I installed a ram air filter box off of my freinds IROC camaro. with 2 K&N air filters. Those 2 mods alone dropped the ET from 16.8 too like a 16.5. after my tranny went out I had the motor rebuilt at the same time and that has me running a best of a 15.97. now i want more since im used to driving a 13 second trans am and all my freinds "Hot Rods".

The long and short of it

Prior to my Maxima, I owned a 1988 Caprice Classic with a 305. I had quite a few problems with this car (alternator 2x, radiator, a/c, tranny....to name a few). When the 305 decided to croak due to lack of oil, I wanted something more reliable and more fuel efficient (I recall two consecutive fill ups with my Caprice being $52 and $56 when gas was over $2/gal). Initially, I was looking at vehicles like Impala SSs (Still want a '96 to this date), Taurus SHOs, Grand Prix GTPs, Grand Nationals, Mark VII LSCs, Mustang LX 5.0s, 4wd Blazers (Need I remind anyone how rough the winters are in Chicago after Monday?), Malibus, Accords, Grand Ams, and even a Century.
Well, while perusing http://www.wwwheels.com, I decided to look for a Maxima because I had rented a GXE in '94 then test drove an SE (at 115 mph) and really loved it. I looked for an SE but there were none. Then I looked for a GXE and found the one you see in my signature.
Then one day while perusing the web, I decided to try and find a Maxima Owners' Group to learn a little more about the car and I stumbled on this site.

well to make a short story long, back around x-mas of 99 My aunt was like hey I need a new car and since I knew that they had sold there 87 maxima to my cousin for 500 bucks when it was only 7 years old I asked her if i could buy her 89 gxe. I didnt know anything about maximas at the time and I just like the styling of hers. So come august of 2000 I get a phone call from my uncle. he says 600 bucks and the max is yours. so the next day he flew down to ames from minneapolis and picked up my girlfriend and me. we got to minne and i gave them 600 bucks and drove it home (5hours) I left at 10:00PM so it was a long drive. then to top things off he let me replace the windshield under his insurance for free(it was cracked) and the muffler(warranty)

i think i got a good deal. a week later I had 500 dollars worth of rust repair done. and now I have a bad injector I think. oh well I still love the car.

Mine

Back in 3/97, I was originally looking for a '92 Supra to replace my very tired '80 Celica with 145,000 miles on it. Considering the fact that my wife was expecting and we just bought a house, we figured going with something a bit more conservative and practical would be a good idea. We looked at '92-93 Camry LEs and '92-92 Accord LXs, but those were really hard to find. Then I remembered the Max as my mom bought a new one back in '84 and I liked that car. So I start looking and find that they can be had for about the same price as an Accord or Camry. I looked for an SE at first, but those were hard to find. When I found my '92 GXE in 4/97, the price was right and had the right miles (65,000). Looking back, this was the best car buy I made so far.

Back in the days, my dad drove 92 se silver, and my mom had 93 se dark metallic blue, then my dad ended up getting himself Explorer, I got his 92 silver se, drove it for a year and my mom got herself 98 white gxe and I got hers, 93 se, w/ only 65k miles on it, great condition and had it for another 2 years. 2 years went by so fast and it started givin me probs. So I sold it, and took me forever to find that 99 5spd, black/black leather. But "good things come for those who wait"

I remember

I never had a car before this one so its my first car. Well Iwas driven my dads truck everytime I wanted to go somewhere. So after I graduated( it wasnt a graduation gift, didnt get a damn thing for graduation) it was in july and my dad was hounding his boss about selling her car to him, so later that month she puts it up for sell, when we bought it it had 110k miles on it, she wanted to get rid of it so she could buy her 2000 max GLE. When my dad told me that this was the car he was looking to buy, I was like, YUCK!! That car is soooo ugly, didnt want the damn thing, then he told me about all the things it had and how it was in near perfect condition, and for the price it was a good inverstment. So that meant no matter what you say son Im getting that car. So the first time I drove it I didnt like it. Then the next day I decided to see what it had options wise, electric everything except for the climate control. Didnt know about the Pioneer Premier deck and cd changer until the next day(/ a remote) I was like woo hooo, sun roof and all. After that I was very pleased with the car, it sounded way Quite anyway, it was always taken to the dealer if there was something wrong with it, until my dad bought it, hehe. Not that rich to be pullin money every time some thing goes wrong. But the car is still the same way, still Quite, driving like it came off the show room, except for the still factory struts those are gone, and need new ones Quick, like next paycheck. Anyways thats my story, got it for 2k, way too good of a deal. and have loved it since.

I was looking for my first car, had about 5k to spend, so checked out all the possibilties... accord, camry, were the big ones. My parents said no sports cars and no coupes, and good reliabilty. That ruled out american, haha. My borther has a 90 camry, and although it may be reliable, i hate that car, its ugly and slow. accord is decent, but kinda small, and the max was just the perfect blend. power, reliabitly, and sport...hehe. so here i am with my max, and i love it! just wished the damn trunk light worked, but im trying...

well back in 94 my mom sold her minivan and got the 92 se. she was thinking about getting a gxe but my dad and i loved the se way better. and she almost got this ugly accord but luckily i talked her out of it. and then when i turned 16 she got a new car and i begged her for the max. she loved it so much and didnt want to give it to me. i could have gotten an accord, camry, any of those cars but loved this car so much. i always knew it was pretty fast and when my mom had it we used to talk her into racing people and the max won most of the time. and now i'm so glad that i got it and not an accord or camry.

In 1991

I got my first company vehicle. One of my bosses wanted to borrow the truck, so I held out and made him trade me his car for the weekend. Brand freakin new Legend 2 door with 5 speed. 200+ Hp suspension, awesome leather, bose.

After that my 7 year old subaru didn't cut it. Sinse I had a truck for everyday usage, I bought My 89 SE speed for 15K.

In 95 I traded it for the 93 5 speed that I have now. 35 K miles Florida car $17,775.00. Runs and looks better than it did then.

how come you paid so much for your cars?? and do you really believe a 93 had only 35k miles? seems kinda odd... thats a lot of money for that year of maxima...

I never even got to test drive my max!!!

I remember I was looking to buy my first car. I went from dealer to dealer looking at honda's, toyo's, vw's, etc. I actually test drove a '96 VW Golf which I was very impressed with, but they wanted $11k. Oh well, I stopped looking for awhile. Then one day I got how from work and my brother told me about this beige maxima at South Motors Infiniti. I ask my bro the simple questions of the mileage, paint, interior, performance, etc. He said it was in prestine condition w/only 58k on the OD!! Aparently the previous owner only used the car when he came to Miami in the winter. We called the dealer and told them to hold it. The next day I went to put a down payment. I got there and wrote the check. I couldn't test drive the car becasue I had no license. By the time I had my tag and insurance in order, I had my license and I went to go pick up my baby!! I remember the first time I stepped on the gas. I was like WHOOOA! The only other car I had driven was my moms '94 civic lx which had no power. I fell in love with the car the first time I drove it. Two years later and I'm still impressed with the car.

The only problem is that I'm always looking at Z32's and RX-7. I was considering trading my max for a '94 RX-7 like 8 months ago. I came to my senses.

Take care,
ICE

Damn bro...I can relate with you. I sold my '91 6-speed Corvette a few months ago because I was sick of putting money into performance mods and making big payments. I dumped over $30K into that car and only got $17K out of it because of something called depreciation and "actual market value." The Vette was deep into the 13s and looked sweet but I never realized how uncomfortable and impractical it was until I got my Max. After I sold the Vette I knew I would be having HP withdrawals so I decided to buy the fastest four door car I could get for under $10K. I narrowed it down to either a '93/94 Taurus SHO 5-speed or a '93/94 Maxima SE 5-speed. I was really tempted to get a Taurus because of the 220HP Yamaha engine and all but then I came to my senses after remembering my '87 Mustang 5.0 that broke down all the time. So I searched high and low for a fully loaded '93 SE 5-speed and found my car in Super White. It has 112K miles and is in excellent condition. I fixed the broken exhaust studs myself, installed new motor mounts, and did a bunch of mods to the car. All I can say is this car is a lot of fun and MUCH more comfortable than a Corvette! I race just about anything in the Max because people think it's just an "average" sedan until I spank their new "car payment on wheels," he he. I still want to extrude hone the heads and intake and put the underdrive pulley in but otherwise I think I'm done modifying this car. It's a blast to drive!

ever since my 87' 200sx died in 97'..

I was on a mission to find a MAXIMA!It was the best choice i had since the parents didnt want me to get a sports coupe..and yet they didnt want me to get a 5spd cuz they wanted to use it too...so, on my mission i came upon several MAX's..the first, a 94 GLE, cream colored, w/105k on it for 10g's!! A little too much i thought. the second, a champaign colored SE w/89k for bout 8g's..not bad but the thing was rusting and the spolier was only being held on by 1 bolt! so nuh uh..i passed...so then after a few days i kinda gave up till one day my dad went on his own mission and found a jewel! a 90 GXE champaign colored with only 58k miles! no rust nothing! He told me to go test drive it and check it out for my self..needless to say i was in love! So we bought my baby for just $6200!! from a Honda dealer!! and even got my power antennae replaced for free so no more stickin antennae for me!! hehee... Champaign Colored MAXIMA's RULE!!!! lol

I orginally planned on getting a 300Zx Twin Turbo or a Grand National but the Z that I test drove took forever to start and gave me bad vibes while I test drove it. A good used Grand National was hard to find and the ones I did find were either out of state or they were asking to much for it. So, I went with the Maxima. I tried in vain to look for a 5 speed but ended up with an auto. Bad thing is that a couple of weeks after I got the car, another dealer told me someone just traded in their 5 speed SE . Oh well, can't win them all..

Once I got my license I started looking for cars. My parents weren't paying for any of it so I had a somewhat limited price range. Didn't see anything I really liked, until one of my friends told me that his grandfather was getting rid of his 92 Maxima SE. My mom had a 95 and it had some *****, so I took a look and grandpa's. 92K miles, auto, black leather interior burgendy exterior, immaculate condition inside and out. Changed oil and preformed maintainance regularly. $5500. It's eaten every dollar I have ever since

Had the Mod Bug from the start....

Even when I got my first vehicle, '84 Mazda truck, I wanted everything! At the time, couldn't afford anything! I had that truck in 4 feet of water and up on two wheels and jumped a set of RR tracks like the Dukes of Hazard. Sold it, and saw an '87 Max. Loved the smooth, boxy design and the V6. I started small, spent money on tacky chrome wheel well covers and spoiler off a Sentra or something and a nice stereo, even had this car up on 2 wheels and at one point had tires so wide up under it, I had to raise the rear end to keep the tires from scrubbing the wheel wells, but man those Cragar mags were nice! Then, some nut on a phone and in a GMC Jimmy didn't like me and rear ended me. I saw him comming and floored the gas, he still shoved the back bumper up to the rear glass! He owned his own buisiness so I got what I thought was fair, just enough to cover the cost of a nice silver '89 SE Max 5sp! I decided enough with the ricey chrome crap and refuse to have anything chrome on this car! I also decided that looks would be last and have done a huge list of mods. The only cosmetics I've done are the BMW headlights, two tone paint and the Stillen GT wing with 3rd brake light cover.

Interesting story....

Wow! Where should I start?? I've owned some pretty nice and fast cars in my short life. From my '69 Vette (that's another story altogether), to my '86 Grand National. This is my 3rd Nissan ('85 Sentra and a '90 300ZX TT rustbucket), and I think it has the most interesting story, to date for me.

I had moved to North Dakota from Chicago last year (and if that's Capitol L/M PrinzII, then you stay right up the street from where I used to live), and got a job as a car salesman for a little mom-and-pop car dealer while I was waiting for the hiring freeze to lift from my present job (Amazon.com). Every day I was there, I kept seeing this grey Nissan that was partially under a tarp in the back of the building, and paid it no mind.

One day, some guy came by interested in buying it. I didn't have any info on it, so I asked the owner. He told me that someone brought it in as a trade-in on one of their "push, pull, tug, or tow it in" days, and it needed a timing chain, so it didn't start. The three of us went to look at it and it looked like someone had been living in it for a year or so. We made the guy an offer, and he pretty much walked away.

Fast forward about 1 month later, and I thought to myself that maybe this would be a decent project car for my sound system. So I asked the owner if I could buy it, and he actually gave it to me for the price of the tax alone, which was $189! It was after the dust settled that I found out that it needed a new engine altogether (darn those interference engines), which set me back $2k.

But now I have a VERY strong SE with a semi-new engine, some new friends at Maxima.org, and soon, an award-winning stereo system(trust me on this...). Guess all I need now is a girl who thinks I look HOT in my COOL Max. (he said, looking over at MaximaBella....)

From RWD coupe to FWD sedan

This Maxima is the second car I've owned, the first being a 1984 Toyota Celica GT (from back in the good ol days of Toyota, with rear wheel drive baby!). This couldn't have been a more perfect first car for me. By diving into this thing I have learned a TON about cars. I didn't even know how to change the oil when I bought it. This was in 1996. In the next couple of years I would replace just about everything in the engine compartment (radiator, alternator and starter twice (damn cheap autozone rebuilds!), etc etc. I have also converted it from an automatic to a 5spd stick when the slushbox started to shift funny. Then there is the whole rbuilding the engine in my apartment where NO car work is allowed story :-D Anyway the Celica now has a bent suspension flange on the rar axle causing it to sway right and left under acceleration/deceleration. Kinda spooky! I've always been looking for a new car, so when I was home in NY in august, I started to seriously look hard.

I wanted something a little more roomy, but something with *****, with a stickshift. I started looking around. Maximas are VERY popular here and it wasnt long before I wandered into a Nissan dealership and test drove a used '99 SE 5spd with all the options. Couldn't afford the price so I looked at some '95-'96 GXE's and SE's. Each one had its faults (automatic, too expensive, etc). I finally found a black '95 SE 5spd in the local paper for sale, and was about to buy it when I ran a Carfax report and found out it had been salvaged and rebuilt!! So THAT's why the glovebox was a bit crooked, and the airbag cover a bit warped So time was running out before I went back to school, and I found this black '93 SE also in the paper. It was the 3rd gen when I wanted a 4th gen, but the price was good, so I looked at it. Hell yeah!! What a car!! Oh course I was stupid and bought the car dirty, and found out aftr I washed it that it had very slight hail damage, but I'll fix it some day and get on with it. anyway I got it for $6800 from a used car dealer with 93K on it. Every option except CD player. This car will be a keeper :-D

OK Here's my story:

It was my dad's car from when he bought the 1990SE 5spd in August of '89. He gave it to me in 1997 with 141K miles on it and he did all of the maintence at the nissan dealer in Longview, TX and now up here in Omaha, NE. Since then, I have done all of the work on it myself except for the timing belt. I had the mod bug from the start. I went from trashing the old 15" rims and getting 17's, to getting NOS, to blowing up the engine, to getting several clutches, to getting rear ended and getting my max totaled by some a$$hole kid that goes to my school. That was then end of my 90SE. During the last year that I had the 90SE, I bought a 92GXE slushbox just for daily driving so I wouldn't put any more miles on the 90se. Well, It's over now. I'm looking for a new car now...Possibly a 90+ 300ZX TT or a 2000 Celica 6spd. I have the money for either, just not sure what to get. I want $$$ left over to put some mods on. I have (in total) probably around 20-25K, but I really don't want to spend all of that...I could go with a $15K zx TT and save 10 g's

Silver 1990SE 5spd---------->R.I.P. @ 156,202 miles
Charcoal 1992GXE Slushbox------>Still goin with 158,000 miles

looooooooong Maxima story

Back in 1991 my dad was looking for a larger car to replace his 79 Corolla. We were deciding between a 84 Camry, Cressida, and Accord. Dad wanted a Celica (*shrug*). Looked in the newspapers for awhile, but nothing fit our budget. I grabbed a free copy of the SF Chronicle from school for my dad (I was in elementary school at that time..heh..loved cars ever since I was young). He saw an 84 Max for around $4000, so we checked it out. Turns out the dude owned like 8 cars and was moving to another country. It was silver and the original paint was very shiny (shinier than new cars!). Dad drove it, loved it, bought it. Compared it to our friend's BMW 318 and the Max was roomier!

Few years later my bro needed a car. Bro wanted a 95 Camry (I hated all Camrys). Accords get stolen. Cressidas were nice, but they stopped making them in 92 and we wanted something newer. So we went hunting for a Maxima. Dad found a 93 and test drove it, loved the power, but didn't buy it because there was something wrong with it. Looked at Consumer Reports and saw that 3rd gens weren't as reliable. Started looking for 95 SEs. Dad test drove a beige 95 SE and was amazed at how much more powerful it was than the 93. Was about to buy it, but the guy didn't pay it off. So we went looking again. Saw a 95 GLE with about 55k. We checked out the car, bought it and loved it ever since...just wish it was an SE.

After we bought it, we cruised around 19th AVE at night(SF Bay Area) and this modded Integra with a loud exhaust is next to us. We were going like 35mph and I looked at him to check out his car and so he looked back. He started accelerating away and I told my dad to step on it and we kept up with him. I bet that guy was pretty surprised hehe. After that we went home.

And to this very day, I don't have a Max. Bro gonna go buy a 2001 Max SE soon, dad will sell 84 Max and get the 95 GLE. So maybe in a few years I'll get the 95GLE.

I've always wanted a max...

ever since one of my cousins had a loaded up '87 GXE back in the day. Before I got my car in Oct. of 99, I was switching back and forth with my folks between a '96 Sentra and a '98 Neon. The lease on the Sentra was gonna be finishing up so I had been keeping an eye out for a nice 3rd gen. I almost bought a green/beige '94 GXE, had 108K and showed some wear...but I held out. The week the lease on the sentra was up, my Winter Blue Metallic GXE w/charcoal leather appeared at the dealer. The sales guy knewn what I was after and called me the minute it came in. I went to look at it that afternoon--it had 68K on it and looked pretty much brand spankin new..except for the flaking clearcoat on the wheels. Drove it off the lot 2 days later.

Not sure about "Interesting", but here goes...

Arrived in Maximaland as my 3rd ever car. First was a 1978-ish 950cc Ford Fiesta. Nice little car. Big hearted engine you could abuse for ever. The rest of the shell rotted around it. Bye bye.

Replaced with a red VW Scirocco. 1.8 litre injection. Fab, except I had to take a driving test before I could play with it because Anna said it was too pretty to defile with "L" plates. Damn. Fast, but uncomfortable. Had that for about 8 years. Getting on a bit, so probably sensible to get a grown-up's car. Problem is that they all look so dull and ugly these days.

Holiday in New England 1988. Alamo said pick up an Olds Ciera. Not available. Doing a special on Offroaders. Er... no thanks. Furthest off road they've been is when you bump up on the odd kerb. Given a 1998 Maxima (Silver, black leather seats) instead. Very nice in parts. Steering wheel on the wrong side, obviously. Bouncy Castle suspension and very oversensitive power steering (never had that before y'see). Surprisingly gutless, for a 190 / 200 bhp engine - 24 valve syndrome. Very comfy though, and you have to respect something that could withstand 2 weeks being driven into the ground.

Back in Blighty, very loath to part with the Scirocco. However uncomfortable, it handled well, looked unusual and would cruise at 100 all day. No sense in waiting for it to break. Sad to see it go. **** heaved a sigh of relief, though. Ahem...pardon me.

Maximas in the UK. As popular as orphaned puppies with bad breath. The Maxima here is what you's call a 3rd Gen. Nobody bought them. They cunningly renamed the later generations the QX. Fooled nobody. Give a dog a bad name, and it'll probably bite you in the leg. The latest QX was on a TV motoring programme recently and was casually, but thoroughly trashed.

Looking for a big cruiser, I was almost thinking of a QX, even though it is a bit blobby and nondescript looking, but then I found a very immaculate 1994 3rd Generation in white with cream leather and all the gadgets. And clear corners and little windscreen washer / wipers for the headlights. (I'd like to say I installed them to look cool, but it would be a lie. UK standard spec.) The downside to UK spec is that we can only have automatics.

I have to say that I think the big square 3rd Gens look loads better than the later rounded jobs. It looks like a proper car. The power steering seems nicer as well and the suspension is not too wallowy at all. It's also pretty fast. It accellerates reasonably well, but is best just thundering along at a lot more than you intended. Quite a nice V6 noise when you thrash it too.

Anyway, I just love it and have finished getting the odd niggly bits fixed. I've also had the cam belt changed, so I'm more confident the motor's not going to eat itself now.

How I got my max:

I just moved to Staten Island and my family just has a beat up 87' Mercury Sable. I needed a car for daily travel to school and with my savings and some money my dad lend me I had about 7 grand to spend. Some people told me to go outside NYC for a used car, better cars and prices. So we went to a place outside of Philly, called Fairless Hills. There was a ****load of lots there.. I always wanted a 3rd gen Maxima, I thought it was a beautiful car.... I came there looking for either a V6 Camry or a Maxima, we checked out an Accord, a Diamante, a 4 banger Camry, a Grand AM, a Grand Prix. and a few other pieces of ****..
Got to one dealership that had a few 3rd gens all with about 100K on them. There was a white 92 GXE, a black 91GXE and a black 91 SE. I loved the black 91 SE. they wanted like 7,000$ for it, car was automatic 115k.. I thought the thing was great looking. We got the price down to like 6,500$ before we left.. saying we would be back.
Then we went to another lot which had mostly used American trash cars. like Pontiacs .... but the dealer there took us to their "other" used car lot, which didn't have that many cars. At first, we saw a Beige 93 XLE Camry with 70+ k on it, they wanted 8,500$. Car was pretty nice but they werent very flexible on the price tag. Then I saw a skyblue 90 GXE with 100k on it, they wanted 5,000$. it looked very beat up tho, body all F-ed up and sounded like ****. I took a look at the lot and saw an old 626, an Accord, Tauruses, some vans and some old *** cars... then I look back at the Camry. then I am like WTF? and I start walking towards it, and I see a Blue 3rd gen Maxima right next to it, I didn't even notice it before. hmmm.... so I look around, milage was 84k, they wanted 9,000$.. we did everything except driving it but got the dude to lower the price to like 7,800$ or so. Then he let us take it to an empty lot and after the test drive, I fell in love, acceleration was so crazy, (i probably thought that because only cars i ever drove before were either the 140hp Sable or Neons & Corollas I learned to drive in) So after that, I knew I had to have this baby.. after some bargaining and stuff, the dealer knocked off another 500$. it was now like 7,200$.
Driving it back, the fuel milage shocked me, it ate so little fuel from Philly to NY, the power was crazy, I was excited. 2 months later is when the problems started to happen starting with the tranny dying. I felt cheated and fooled at first because I really ended up paying like 8,500$ for the car and tranny, but its all good.
At 1st I thought I should have went for the black 91 SE, I just thought it looked so sick, but then I found out the whole deal with the VE's and VG's

and thats my story!

One day I said I would own a car like this......

Well... I have only had 3 cars in my life. And they have all been Nissan's. My first car was a 1986 Nissan Skyline. It was a great car. My secound car was a 1990 Nissan Skyline Ti...top of the line with power options. This was Nissan's flagship before the Maxima was released in Australia. Well anyway I saw an ad for a 1993 Nissan Maxima Ti (Champainge). I went and test drove the car. I loved every minute..... It was so quite and smooth. When I put my foot down it really went...but It had 260,000KMS on the odometer... and the car hesistated a bit.. So I thought I would look around a bit more.
But I really loved the Maxima I keeped saying... So I looked around on the internet and found a 1993 Maxima Ti in Canberra not far from Sydney..... I got a great trade on my Skyline and brought this beauty below...... It has been the best car that I have ever had. I rememer saying. One day I would own a car like this....and now I have one...

In 3/96 my dad got sick of not having a car witha standard tranny so he went shopping in Dallas. He went to Courtesy Nissan in Richardson and found a used '93 Black Nissan Maxima SE with a 5spd that was Nissan Certified with an $900 extended warranty. Not quite the BMW he was looking for, but he fell in love nonetheless. He brought it home and I made fun of it (I was in 8th grade at the time and thought anything with less than 300hp was a ***** car). Two years later I was ready to drive and started with either my sister's '93 Olds Bravada ( one VERY RARE occasions) or and the '95 Ford Windstar. Well I had driven the Maxima once I swore up and down after the first time I drove the Maxima that I HATED standards and would NEVER EVER DRIVE ONE. Then I was presented with these two options: drive the '95 Ford Windstar until my grandfather bought me a car, or learn to drive a stick. I choose the latter. Now I will never drive an automatic CAR again. In the summer before my Junior year of high school my granfather decided it was time to buy me a car. I went looking for a Maxima that was just like the one I had been accustomed to driving and just couldn't get everything together. Plus my grandfather wanted me to have an S.U.V. or a truck (which I had NO problem with believe me cause a free car is a FREE car). I bought a '95 white 2-door Yukon with SLT trim and hated driving it everyday. So my dad and I traded cars and to this day Max is mine and "The Rock" is my father's. I love my car and believe me, she is like my girlfriend, if you touch her or look at her the wrong way, I WILL KILL YOU! The end.

i used to hate japanese cars. i had a 1972 chevy cheyenne (truck) that was in almost perfect condition. it had a 350 in it and it would fly. one day, me and my dad were gonna go buy a new hose for it and he decided to drive. he was turning out of our neighborhood in the rain. he got on it too much, fishtailed, couldn't regain control, slid off the road, spun, and hit a tree. time to find a new car. my friend had a max and i liked it. i looked at accords, but they were too slow. i didn't know what to do. i wanted something fast, but reliable and low on insurance. i did some research on the maxima and saw how great of a car they were. after 3-4 weeks of searching, i found my maroon 1992 maxima gxe w/ only 85,000 miles. i love it! i've only had it fo r1 month and after winter is over, i'm hoping to do some stuff to it.
