Intermittent Engine Stall--Help!

I have a 92 Maxima SE that has an intermittent engine stall--it has a severe hesitation for 2-3 seconds and then returns to normal. Sometimes, but rarely, it will come to a complete stop and then will restart. This occurs every half hour or so--but it is not predictable in any way. I replaced fuel filter and fuel pump relay which did not help...does anyone have suggestions? This is year 3 of the problem!

What about a full tune up? Are you on top of all your maintenance?

My 92 SE stalls every once in a while upon acceleration which is from a bad mass air flow meter. Idles real rough and everything. Another thing that will help is to change your ignition coils. THey are suppose to be changed every 50,000 miles. Mine have gone a little longer than that

What are the symptoms of a bad MAF sensor and bad ignition coils? Or are they basically the same symptoms? I guess its cheaper to replace MAF then to replace 6 coils.

Re: Intermittent Engine Stall--Help!

when i first got my 92 se i had a stall problem. the idle was rough and would drop almost to zero when i put it in neutral and then would come back up. sometimes it stalled out. i did a tune-up and it runs like new! what i did was replace the plugs, air filter, fuel filter, changed the oil and added hp recovery oil treatment, used some fuel treatment and cleaned my throttle body out. all that combined to give me more power and a rock steady idle and no more stalling. sometimes you think a problem is just one thing, but it maybe a combination of little things that adds up. good luck
