ok,

what the heck does that verticle switch do that's to the left of the AC button? it flips really easily and doesn't seem like it does anything. is it supposed to flip easily? it clicks into place on the top and the bottom, but it doesn't feel like there's any kind of resistance. i have a 92 SE.

switch

WHEN it works properly, it allows outside air to flow from the dash vents while heated air runs to the bottom ducts.

If you have outside air going to the dash (like with a/c), you can't tell the difference, but you will once you set the flow to the floor vents, turn the heat on, and it is nice and cold outside.
