Re: Need ideas for a new exterior mod

for $75...all I can think of are pair clear corner lights with some nice bulbs and maybe use the rest to get a professional detail job or something, make it look pretty. I mean if you're thinking of body kits and stuff like that $75 ain't gonna cut it!

You could possibly get a used Stillen front lip for that much...if so, it'd be a heckuva deal.

get some clear corners with polarg hyper white in the corners and if you have enough left over get colored lights in the dome and step lights.

Spoiler if you don't have one, do your front grill over, mesh etc... Get some different lights on the back of that thing if you don't have those either, may need a bit more than 75, but not tons.

Neither do I.. but an entire "system" for $600?

You can hardly buy a quality amp for $600, let alone a head unit ($250 minimum), front speakers ($150 minimum), a decent sub ($100 min), box for the sub (another $100), AND amps to run the subs and front speakers.

And that's just a basic system with no rear speakers..

but you're talking from the perspective of someone who sounds as though they want a system capable of being in shows. Not everyone is like that. A $250 Head unit, $150 front speakers, $200 rear speakers. $600 total and comfortable listening.

That's true...and I dont think many people here can touch Matt in the audio category. Have you SEEN his setup? lol

But when you say 'system' that generally means subs/amps.....You say system and you think 'boom boom'.

I have a $400 h/u, and $300 front component set and amp but I certainly wouldnt say I have a 'system'.

Use the $75 to buy a polisher or something to keep your car as shiney as possible. I've found decent quality polishers in my city for around $100, plus your going to need pads and polishes. You're no going to be able to do a nice non-rice mod for $75 unless there is lots of labour that you'll be doing yourself.

For about $600 you can make a decent system that's not show-quality... Hell, I paid $255 for my head unit and 6x9s, and I still get asked if I have a system... I can buy a 12" sub from my buddy (A good one) for about $100 w/box, and get a small 200W amp for around $100 or so, and for about $500, I'd have a decent system that would keep me happy... Or, if I could get my hands on a stock Bose system... I'd be in heaven

Matt

I know his quality is no where near yours but what most people want is just bass. F the sound quality. and all you really need for that is a decent pair of subs and a 1000 watt POS amp, my freinds got the same deck I used to have (Clarion Double din) and 2 15" Solobarics and a 1200 watt lanzar lighting audio or something, amp that he bought for $250 and hes got so much bass from that, that it hurts your ears when hes got it up.

I dont even have subs or an amp yet, but Ive got cerwin vegas all around and a clarion HU and my stereo sounds fine, quality wise.

i agree with you guys. im not into the rattling and the huge base. i only like base pounding if it is accompanied by some nice highs and mids inside the car. my old jetta used to pound, but i was still able to here every word and there other little sounds too. i have a 4 channel eclipse amp for my 2 sets of components im putting in my max. im just waiting for my subs to come in.

clarity is key

i'm not into huge bass anymore either but my trunk setup alone in parts cost me close to 1200. i still haven't even put it all together...

then add HU and components all around..you're talking close to 2k for audio w/o TV's...

IMO, "system" implies that you have more than jsut the stock location speakers/HU...you need something in the trunk/dash/seats to qualify it as a "system" and not just "nice stereo." $600 definitely won't buy a "system" unless it's like Jensen sh*t on clearance...
