to cv joint or to axle?

well i guess my cv joint is ready to go because i hear a rapid clicking whenever i turn, is it better to replace the joint or just find a remanufacture axle and put that in?
how much will either solution cost?
thanks

I found it to be less expensive to replace the axle half than to rebuild it. The off-the-shelf cost was $65 per side with a life-time warranty. This included new dust boots. You'll have to decide which solution is better.

Usually the whole axle will be cheaper than just the joints I just replaced one of my cv boots and a ball joint its not hard to remove the axle just undo the 3 ball joint bolts then move the hub and stuff out the way (once you get the axle nut removed) just remember that not to pull on the axle pry it out of the tranny pulling on it will destroy your inner joint. Just a bit of help

If you have a manual tranny, I have both axles out of my 1993 SE. I will sell both of them to you for $40 plus shipping/COD

Why did you remove the old ones? Are they in perfect condtion? I may need to buy them from you to solve my axle problems.. Let me research some, and I'll try to get back.

I wrecked my car, and parted it out, that is why I am selling them. They are in great shape.

went to firestone and had them take a look today....
500 and something odd dollars for parts and labor... damn...
so i asked th eguy if i brought in the axle if they could just do the install he said no because then it won't be under the warranty...
yup yup about that time i start calling all those lil shops around the area....
500 is way too much isn't it? i was think of somethign more around teh 300-400 area.....*:Sigh:*
**if anyone knows someone in the ri area who is a good mechanic and works for a decent price let ur boy know**

it's not too hard to do yourself...I just followed the Chilton book and did it myself. I got a few quotes from 400-700 for parts and labor. All in all, I paid about 150 for parts and about 3 hours of my time and saved well over 400 bucks.
