Shifter sloppy/ jello 89 please help!!

I went to look at a car I have been thinking about for a long time this past weekend. an 89 se 5spd. I liked the car except for the fact that the transmission felt really crappy. for instance, putting it in first, it would go in, but not definitely, after it was in, the shifter could still move forward, it felt like it was flexing or something. the same is true with all gears. another thing was that the tires broke loose really easilly, and there was a bunch of rolling onto the sidewalls. I think the clutch needed adjustment as well. asside from that, great car, I hope I get it.

im suffering from the same problem with the shift linkeage.
the plate that holds up the support rod is loose on my car. it seems like a simple fix if i could only get off one of the bolts. one of the bushings could be shot too i guess
