window switch

My 92 gxe passenger window was being hesitant about powering up for a few weeks . Now it is obsinantly stuck in a down position. Before it would power down from driver or passenger door now and hesitate power up. When I depress driver up switch I can hear relay/switch (?) in passenger door activating but not window motor .
does not seem to be a regulator problem as window is held fast . Any clues to toubleshooting the switches or how to power the motor to go up as it is still hurricane season here in Miami. Thanks for your attention

take off the door panel, instructions are on my site for replacing the window regulator
then you can see what's going on and if you need to roll the window up, you can do it by putting 12V and ground to the window motor (it has a large 2 wire connector going to it). If you put + on wire A and - on wire B, it will go one way, if you reverse those, the window will move the other way

Re: window switch

I had the same bizniz happen to me when i bought my car (91se). the passenger front was givin me heck, and when i bought the car a year ago, i asked the guy about it, so he ended up taking $200 off the price. i went to the junk yard, got my self a switch for 20 bux, and its been working great ever since, no more of that hesitation business.
--note= if you want to replace the switch, its gotta be the pass. front switch, otherwise your doors wont lock and unlock, and it will be a mess.

easy window up fix

Pried up the passenger switch plate in front of the switch with my thumb (there is plenty of play in this piece of plastic) disconnedted the wire block from under the switch. It looks like this ::: :: by jumping the two outside connectors in each horizontal row the motor activated and the window went up. Did not have to disassemble door

better diagram of wireing block

Now if i can figure out how to take the rest of the plate off I will be able to repace switch without taking door apart.

re: window switch

See my recent post on power door lock help. Sounds identical to my problem which was resolved by swapping the switch with one from a rear door. If that works, order a new one via Courtesy. When I switched mine, the switch worked in reverse. (up was down, vice versus) I corrected this by reversing the motor leads. HTH

Thanks for the offer. My neighbor works as the local dealership. If he can't rustle up an old switch, he can get one at cost. he got my regulator for $50.
