could you guys list what year your car is and how many miles it has on it and also, just state if you think the 3rd gen Max has treated you well (reliable). Thanks for the help...hopefully my brother buys a 92-94 SE, and i can help him "Maximise" it!

'93 SE 99,400

Make sure if he buys a '92-'94 SE with the VE 190hp motor, and hears a clacking in the engine while its idling, to let the seller know this is a known VTC problem and will cost $1500 to get it fixed at the dealer. should give you some bargaining room

Also the BOSE speaker amps go bad, and the head unit has weird problems. That's about it. Otherwise mine has been excellent.

Maximas are great cars...

my dad had his '83 1st gen Max for 4-5 years when he bought it in '90, but the big deal is the car was already 8 years old by then and it fought like a true champ until it crapped out in '95(12 years STRONG!!) and then he bought a POS Caravan!!!(stupid Dodge turbos!) anyways the reliability continues on besides the unavoidable bad tranny in the first 2 years(89-91+/-) of the auto third gen, but once you get it rebuilt and pop in a tranny cooler you're straight!! other than that usual maintenece and "progressive" modding should keep it good shape!! I bought my '91 w/ 105K and today its pushing 130K and going......(knock on wood) 92-94 SE is a good car, I'd shoot for a '94 SE, less chance of VTC problems(so I've heard) and if not a stick the autos were improved and built better than previous years!!

Still going strong..

1994 with 128,000. Car has been great except for the occasional problems that come along with a 6 year old car.

its kinda iffy for me, shes 10 yrs old, 90' and Ive had her a little over a year, she may have been very good for her previous owners...and I got the tail end of the deal, the end where I got stuck with all the repairs! So she seems sorta unreliable to me, but alotta the stuff has just been maitnence, things just getting old, the only thing that pissed me off was the tranny, I cried and cried, and almost didnt get it fixed at all.
my car has approx 140k on it, she speedo failed around 60k with a previous owner (very common), and they just said to double whatever it says......

ok...

I have a case similar to MaximaBella. I got the car with 84k in march, tranny died, battery died.. Had to replace several things that you can call maintanace parts, stuff like o2 sensor, fuel filter spark plugs, rods.. some other sh*t.. I threw over 2,000$ into repairs alone. I still ahve to say the car is very reliable. It runs we'll for an 8 year old car. I have a few other problems now that I have to take care of, brakes, very horrible gas milage (could be fuel pressure regulator), shifter bushing...
I now have just over 96k miles... love the car, but I have a suspicion that the previous owner was a complete **** to this car. I say.. if properly maintained, this baby can go forever. Make sure the car has been taken care of, and watch out for those automatic trannies!!!!

I got a 92 SE..

w/ 134k had since 85k, ikeep good car of this car. i only changed the spark plugs and tune up at 105k or somthin'.
then changed the Bose system,200 watt amp and subs, had new water pump and shortly after rebuilt tranny around 120k,
since then i have alarme remote start, then Magnaflow muffler. no problems other than that.

oh and i was the cause of the tranny and probably the water pump... i don't drive like grandma. sorry!
