Pull to the left?
Question, would a broken front motor mount cause a car to pull to one side when i hit the gas? OR could it be struts? I just had both axles replaced, and found that my front motor mount is done for, but i still don't know what the cause of the pulling is? Amymore ides one what it could be?

It pulls to the right when you get on the accelerator? Anymore details?
Re: Re: Pull to the left?
It's most likely caused by bad tie rod ends. I would reccomend that you change the ball joints at the same time, they can be responsible for some free play also. Tie rod ends are usually cheap, around $12 easy. While ball joints are a bit more expensive at around $30 each. You best to do both ball joints and both tie rod ends at the same time, this way you won't have to revisit that aspect of the car again. After replacing outer tie rod ends you have to get the car aligned. You can use the search function to give you the details about the replacement of these two items and what exactly they do.

It's definitely not out of alignment, i had that done about 2 weeks ago, when i replaced the tires, i guess i'll check the ball joint and tie rods...i don't really have the time to do the work myself, anyone have a guesstimate on price for the labor?

The outer tie rod ends are extremely easy to change and will take you ten mins each, if you start out with the proper tools. Then you have to get an alignment. Ball joints are harder. Since you want to pay someone to do it, I would say 2 tie rod ends and 2 ball joints would cost around $120-150 labor, NOT including parts. If you did it yourself it would cost around $85

Re: i think it could be torque steer
Uhhh...not quite, i suppose you could say it is, but in this case it's a by product of a larger problem

My car pulled like that a lot over the summer when I was home. I figured that it was just the crown in the road on my way to work. I had my alignment checked a bunch of time, but it still pulled. The problem was the ball joints. Even though the stupid garage aligned the wheels, the worn ball joints wouldn't keep it in alignment as I drove down the road. Another thing was that my tires were in perfect balance, but my wheel always jumped up and down. Replacing my ball joint cost me $200, but it solved both problems I was experiencing.

You guys should get a factory service manual. It'll tell you how to do these things, it's really simple actually. For te DIY'er I would estimate it would take you 1/2 hr to 45 mins for each ball joint. Ball joints typically cost around $30, so if you do it yourself it would only cost $60.
The more you know to do, the more you find to do, and the better you do it.

Two hundred seems a little steep to me too, from what i'm finding, i'll probably get a FSM, but i live in an apt complex and they sort of frown upon having your car in pieces, and i don't have a whole lot of free timehaving 2 jobs and other stuff going on, so right now it costs less for me to have someone else do the work, plus a shop here in town is cutting me some pretty good deals

I'm glad to see you got the problem fixed. However, I feel $200 is quite excessive for a simple replacement of ball joints, I would feel for that sort of labor charge, tie rod ends could also be done.
