I don't want to start a controversy, so don't get the wrong idea, but I just roadkilled a 5th gen. I was on HWY. 191 out here in Midland minding my business doing about 85 and this guy and his wife roll up next to me in a 2k white SE. I know cause I saw the lettering on his trunk as I exited. Anyway, he pulls up next to me and stares at me for a second and then tries to take off. I hate people who do that so I downed to 4th and floored it and he tried to keep up but I still had about half a car length on him. We kept going around 100 and I could see his whole front end in my rearview. We coasted there for a second and he tried again, this time he was REALLY on the accelerator, so I downed this time from 5th to 3rd ( I was at around 85) and he got almost right next to me before I hit 4th and started pulling away. A slit second later look down and we're going 125! We kept this up all the way to 135 and I was kicking his ***! I guess he gave up after that and hit the brakes. I exited a very happy man. By the way, I have a BONE STOCK '93 SE 5spd.

Well, doubt me or not, it happened. They say that racing is almost all dependant on the driver. I know my car and I know how to drive it. Maybe this guy didn't. I don't know. All I know is that I raced him to 135 and I beat him, or he just gave up cause I was beating him at the time. Who knows, maybe he had a speed limiter, I don't know if the 5th gens have a governor or rev limiter on them. You also have to remember, there are a alot of cars that have less horsepower that can beat cars with more horsepower. (i.e. inports vs domestic). I love all Maximas and everyone should know that.i hold no prejudice. Hell if there was someone on here with a 5th gen that knew how to driver it real well were to race me thet'd probably whoop my ***!

If your not on a track, it's not a race. On the street you never know if someone is trying or playing.

I have no problems believing that. I drove a 2K SE auto and was incredibly disappointed, it was an absolute dog in any situation, and I also almost bought a 92 SE 5 spd which was very fun and alive. Only thing was I never took the 2K over 100, cause thats where I'd expect him to take you if anything. Even according to stats your a bit faster in the 0-60 and about even in the 1/4 mile, plus you have a 5 spd. Great kill.

i believe him 100%....

i had a 3rd gen.. 190 hp and used to kill alot of cars..i now drive a 4th gen.. which is faster by far... but my mom owns a 2001 se and when driving that.. it actually feels slower than my 3rd gen... so i dont doubt he did beat it

I believe it...

I believe it, I raced a 5th gen before at the street races from a stop...I have an auto, so I have no advantage what so ever, but as we were going, the 5th only had me by almost 2 cars, and we were constant to 120. Doesn't matter if they do have 222 hp, the 4th gen has 190 and still runs the same 1/4 mile time. I've beaten many 4th gens on the go.

You know...

the differences in acceleration #'s for all Maxima 5 speeds form 92 till now are so close that in any max 5spd vs. 5spd its more a driver thing than anything else.

and for the record I took a 5th gen stick from a 30mph roll back when I was stock... and he was tryin...

I would be disappointed to se a VE stick lose to any auto max. Stock that is!
