going to the track next week...

to shut my brother's stupid mouth up. he keeps wanting to race me with his 95 5 speed 240sx. anyone know what the outcome would be? the only thing that's killing my car right now is i have two huge exhaust leaks on both places where the y-pipe mounts. it's killing my gas mileage and power but i will hopefully have that fixed by next week. My brother keeps claiming his car is so cool and so fast and i drove it and it sucks but he still thinks he can win. He keeps saying my car sucks and v6's suck so i to shove his words down his throat. Any ideas on the outcome? Thanks.

my car is a 5-speed also with an intake and exhaust.

err.. that should be fairly close... the max would have a better chance on a longer track.. but hmm... cant really decide just from cars and mods... looks like you're just gonna have to go find out.

Can he drive well? He has the advantage of RWD on that short 1/8 miles track. If it was a 1/4 mile track I would lean towards the max, but I think he may take if he can drive.

well... i'm sure how he can drive but i do know he's an idiot. i drove his car tonight and he needs to re-adjust the clutch. There is almost no free play at all so it releases right at the top and doesn't engage all of the way. I think the clutch slips a little bit while driving becase of it. Also, the dust boot on the throwout bearing arm thingy got shoved in somehow so the clutch is really hard to press. Also, he has a bat cat and he has a straight through exhaust setup so he doesn't have as much torque as normal. His gear ratios are also a little different. His 2nd gear maxes out at 60 where mine maxes out at 75 so that should help me a little but i'm not sure. I think it will be really close. Probably will all come down to who is better at 5-speed.

Re: going to the track next week...

If your a VG with a good 60' it would be close. Make sure you beat him at the tree and the game is yours. It took my se-r alittle past the 1/8 to pull a VG 5spd with I/Y/E. Not to mention he put 1 car on me off the line .

at the track we are going to i think they just go by speed and times so the take off won't matter as much compared to who gets there first.

he's just has the stock ka24de. i keep telling him to do the sr swap but he's too stupid and wants to just build the ka.

oh yeah, forgot to mention. he's pretty much a ricer (he's going to do all the body work first and then finally spend what money he has on engine, which won't be much). he's getting a huge wing put on his car, a pretty ugly body kit, and he's having it painted some weird orange color. i think it's the orange that comes on some of the camaros. then, he's painting his hood black as to make it appear to be carbon fiber, his word's were "well, i just like the look of a black hood" my words "you're an idiot". i'll get pictures of this discrace sometime when he gets it done.

Oh man, you need to lay the smack down..you'll take him off the line easy. Honestly, I'd think the 240 would be better on a 1/4 than an 1/8..you have way more torque than him and make more power at a lower rpm, so you'll pull harder off the line..that's what I like so much about the VG..torquey. Check z31.com for torque numbers on built VGT's..it's insane. Way to go on the VGT..I can't wait to do mine..but I need to pay down my credit debt first..should be about 12 months and I'll be able to get started. No body-#*it..I mean -kit for me..ever..not my style. Tell your brother he'd get way more props with a turbo hissing under the hood..body kits and wings just add weight and weight you down. Besides, 240's are beautiful as they are.
I have faith..you can take him. Just make sure you don't get too excited and spinn alot, a little chirp is all and you'll hookup. Good luck

what kind of take off do you think i should do? i think i read on here a 2000 rpm drop then wait for the tires to stop spinning if they do then punch it but i can't remember.

It will be fun. I'll also have something up my sleeve incase VTEC is near . It would be nice to see if you can break 14s bone stock.

Re: maximadriver.com will tell you, ya ya. i know it doesnt compare to the org

No offence at all man, but i'm a a ka24 fan. The stock 240sx should be able to beat the vg max without a problem. The maxima is heavier, the 240sx is rwd, both motors have good torque. However, the real reason i feel the 240 will win is because in my stanza is the ka24e, in my three races against a vg so far, undefeated.., mine isn't stock though, but in any case it wouldn't have been a problem. Being that my stanza comes stock with less HP, the more nimble 240sx definitely shouldnt have a problem. If your brother can do a good job driving it, so far it's in his favor. The only way you stand a chance is to launch better than him, if you can get ahead of him from the start, then you stand a chance.
