good price on SE?

I have found an 89 Se 5 speed. It has 205,000 miles but is in great shape. The only thing I can find wrong with it is the bose radio lights are out but I have an extra radio and one of the bose speakers doesn't work. The body and cloth interior are perfect. They are asking $2500 for it.I have a great 92 Se and I don't really need this one but is the price good enough to buy anyway?I thought I would either just drive it a little or resale it.Could I make a profit on it?

considering I paid $3200 for a 93SE with 155k miles on it, I certainly wouldn't pay $2500 for one 4 years older and another 50k miles!

Even if it is in perfect condition I would only pay $2000. I know the VG can last forever and all, but over 200k is getting pretty high on mileage, unless you are in desperate need of a car. But like you said, you have a 92 SE at home.

Too much money for that car. Use those $2000 on the VE for some mods.

OK, Thanks everyone.I don't need the car I just thought it was a good price.I guess I was wrong.I wouldn't sell my 92 Se for that.I'll pass on this car.

FYI, I just ran KBB for a 89 SE with 205K on it. It came back in my area with $2,340.

Here in the northern Chicago Burbs, that is about right. I'm not sure about your area, but here everyone pays attention to stuff like KBB.

$2500 seems like a lot. The guy was asking $1800 for mine, with broken bose, one bad window, perfect interior, some scratches on front bumper, 3000mi oil changes w/records, new clutch+alternator, ~220k miles and wheel well rust. I talked him down to $1200 and put in my own sound stuff for a few hundered. I would try and talk the seller down to 1800 or so, maybe less depending on condition and how well it was maintained. The VG30E engine should last forever but the window regulator/bose/antenna/clock and other stupid problems can get expensive to fix if you care about the car being 100% perfect.

this may help,

i just bought a 93 SE yesterday for $2800.....it has 110K....the only problem is that the drivers side power window is messed up. it's a nice car....i'm happy as hell with it. some 50 yr old woman has been driving it for the past 7 years......i think she was just ready to get rid of it.

I know about all the common problems a Max has.I have a 92 SE and so far I've fixed all the problems you mentioned except the clock. You left out the exhaust manifold bolts, I fixed them also. You also left out that the fog lights are too low and get broken easily, fixed one. Also the cup holder is awful.I haven't had a problem with the VT's, I guess thats the right initials you know what I mean though,I'm holdin my breath on that one.Thank goodness mine is a 5 speed and I don't have to worry about the automatic transmission. It seems like eveyone has these problems and it seems like Nissan should have addressed them.
