ypipe question

I know this as been discussed before but couldnt i just go to meineike and have them replace the 2 precats in my ypipe with straight pipes..isnt that the same thing as buying an aftermarket one.what would be the disadvantages and advantages to doing this..also cold i have them replace the bpipe resonator to a straight pipe...would that give me at least more power to the wheels??

Re: ypipe question

there are no precats on 3rd gens, the aftermarket y pipe is a completely different design... search, there are some pics of them side by side and youll see why aftermarket is better

3rd gens have no precats to replace. All an aftermarket Y-pipe does is remove the the restrictiveness of the stock pipe we have. Here are some pics...

or http://www.cattman.com/img/prod/dsc_...4%20y-pipe.jpg

a straight pipe (ala ebay) is a pipe that fits betweent the Y-pipe and the b-pipe in place of the Catalytic convertor...not much gains there

Ahhhhhhh, so this is the reason the y pipe doesn't show as much gain as for the 4th and 5th gens
