Removed my A/C compressor belt....Now no heater or a/c working!! HELP!

Remember I was having trouble with the A/C belt. I took it off about a week ago. Now I dont have any heat coming out of the vents. What could be the problem?

Unrelated to heat.

Taking off the A/C belt will (obviously) stop your AC from working, but will have no effect whatsoever on your heater. If you have no heat you have a different problem

Things to check

1. Plugged heater core.
2. stuch shut watercock. This is an air sloenoid activated valve that keeps hot water out of your heater core when the air is on.
3. Mixing door cable broken or disconnected

Good luck,

John

Re: Removed my A/C compressor belt....Now no heater or a/c working!! HELP!

If its any help, the problem may not be associated to the belt. Prior to me removing the belt, the heat/ac only worked on "4" setting. It did not work on the 1,2, or 3 settings. Now it wont work at all. It's not pushing any air through the vents. Should I still check those areas you mentioned above?

No, that is a bad fan motor or wiring issue. The high speed (4) is a separate circuit with its own relay (passenger side behind teh kick panel). Check the fuses. If they are blown, you may have a shorted out blower motor. If they are blown, disconnect the blower, replace the fuses. If they blow, there is a wiring problem upstream. If they don't blow, but blow when you re-connect the fan motor, replace the fan motor.

Good luck,
John

***so where do I look for the fuses, in the fuse panel? And if they are blown, do I need to disconnect the motor before I relace the fuses?***
