? on Sparkplugs

Im replacing my spark plugs and distributor cap and Im wondering if having had old worn ones would be effecting the cars performance?
I think my car has the original factory ones still and it has 86,000 miles.

yeah, I think Plugs for the VG are every 30K. The cap and rotoe are every 60K. Your overdue. What about the timing belt?

Re: ? on Sparkplugs

It most certainly would be bad for performance. Also for gas mileage. Replace it all cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Has the fuel filter been replaced? If the timing belt hasn't been done as todamax suggested you need to do it(due at 60K). While that is being done it is a good idea to replace the water pump and thermostat to save the headache in the future because if the pump goes you usually have to redo the timing belt!

Hey thnks for the info, the belt was done at 70K miles along with the waterpump and thermostat. Im not sure what the Rotor is? Fuel Filter was done recently. So I guess I need to get new distributor cap and rotor plus plugs.

Rotor is in the distributor, it spins and makes contact (kinda) with the distributor cap, which then sends the voltage to the wire which then connects to the spark plug, which then sparks, which then causes your a/f mixture to combust.

Basically the you would need to ask for the following:

Rotor (sometimes called "Rotor Button")
Distributor Cap
Spark Plug Wires
Spark Plugs

These will get your ignition system back in good shape, assuming you have nothing wrong with any of the other components.

Sup I replaced everything except the spark plug wires.
I got new spark plugs, new distributor cap, and rotor.
I couldnt afford the wires for now they were 41$.
Is it ok that I dont get wires right at the moment just get new ones later?
Tested it out and car idles higher and seems just smoother driving.
I had the original spark plugs! #ed from the factory with 86,000 miles on em.

At that kind of mileage I wouldn't wait too long. You may start to have problems from moisture because they are probably very dry rotted. Glad the car is running better though.
